OUT THERE!
Happy New Year!

WE'RE INNOVATIVE!

The AlloSphere Research Facility was recently recognized by the Goleta Chamber of Commerce with its 2019 Innovation Award. This was a significant acknowledgement by nearly 500 leaders of the local business community. We will go forward to build and develop the most innovative technologies for immersive visualization research and artistic production, as well as new advancements in VR hardware and software development.

A window into a formal TEDx at UCSB

In November, I was asked to be the Faculty Director for the TEDx UCSB Conference initiative for the University of California Santa Barbara. TEDx UCSB is celebrating its tenth year since its inception in 2010. As permanent faculty director, TEDx UCSB will become a formal conference venue for leaders in important fields at the University of California. The goal is to highlight UCSB’s best research and creative activities that emphasize the uniqueness of this forward-looking community that is the height of advanced research in new materials for information technology systems, quantum computing, and Virtual Reality at the height of scientific research. The AlloSphere Research Group’s highly successful community outreach programs will be showcased for a much broader audience, as we become the international leaders in the field on immersive VR technologies. TEDx UCSB will feature the most advanced researchers and creative practitioners in these fields.

Coming in 2020!

As I shared in the Fall 2019 edition of OUT THERE, the AlloSphere Research Group has been preparing to take a quantum leap in establishing new frontiers of art, grounded in science, and technology. We will establish a satellite facility in the heart of Santa Barbara. Residents, schoolchildren and tourists alike will be able to visit Allo2, view unique and immersive content, and meet the artists and scientists that created it. This is an exciting opportunity for the University of California at Santa Barbara to establish a presence right in the heart of the community. We look forward to seeing you there!

We’re proud to showcase our continuing progress. Feel free to share this newsletter.
