December 2019

The 2019 Journey's Complete

We believe sustainable transportation options should be as prevalent, accepted, and respected as driving is today—if not more so. Based on our experience and your input, we are taking a new approach to our work, setting the goals of (a) making streets safer for people and (b) making transit work better for people so that more people choose sustainable transportation options.

Thank you for supporting our efforts to advance safe streets for all in 2020. Your support helped us arrive at our 2020 Strategic Plan. Special thanks go out to HUGE Inc., Sugarman Consulting, and MET ATL for their professional and in-kind support. We look forward to hearing your feedback and welcome your donations to help us move into the next decade with strong momentum.

Donate today to advance the movement for safe streets in 2020.

A Look Back at 2019

We set three core priorities and successfully knocked down every one...
☑ CHAMPION ATLANTA DEPARTMENT OF STREETS & MOBILITY (AKA ATL DOT)
☑ ADVANCE TOWARDS SAFE STREETS FOR ALL ATLANTANS
☑ CREATE NEW 3-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN THAT SIGNIFICANTLY ADVANCES EASE OF MOBILITY FOR ALL ATLANTANS

#SafeStreetsForAll in 2020

Early in 2019, we saw the deprioritization of critical corridors in our city. Both Cascade Avenue and DeKalb Avenue were promised much-needed safety upgrades through Renew Atlanta/TSPLOST that were defunded. Still, we’re not wavering on our advocacy efforts to see enhancements made to these streets. Good news is on the horizon - both are scheduled for resurfacing in 2020, and through our advocacy, the new DOT leadership has committed to improving safety through those projects.

Through the efforts of residents and Upper Westside CID leaders, Howell Mill Road is set to begin the 18-month long right-of-way (ROW) acquisition process in early 2020 to advance the delayed Howell Mill Complete Street Project.
