December 23rd, 2019
As the light returns this holiday season, consider making a generous, year-end gift to California Poets in the Schools. Help us spread this life-enriching work to more California youth in 2020. We are almost 3/4 of the way to our goal of raising $60,000 by December 31st. Thank you to the hundreds of supporters who have already given.

Most Beautiful
The most unique thing is my
mind popping with ideas.
The strangest thing I ever saw was
other people thinking,
with their elbows smack on the table and their pencils
moving like cheetahs.
The most beautiful thing is the stars
looking down on me.
The brightest thing I ever saw was
a unicorn dancing in the sun.
The most colorful thing I ever saw was a rainbow in
the bright blue sky.
The warmest thing I ever felt was my kitty's heart
pounding with love.
The most beautiful thing I ever saw was a world
spinning and spinning.
The sweetest thing I ever saw was my family
looking into my heart...
But I will never know what they are thinking.

What your donation to California Poets in the Schools means:
• We will offer over 22,000 K-12 students throughout California in 2020 an opportunity to find and explore their unique, creative voices through poetry
• We can initiate new poetry-in-schools programs in artistically underserved counties, as we did this year in Merced
• We will host over 50+ poets and educators alongside high level workshop leaders at our statewide symposium in 2020, as we did in San Juan Bautista last year with Juan Felipe Herrera, 21st U.S. Poet Laureate
• We will continue to respond swiftly when disaster strikes - sending Poet-Teachers into schools all over California that have been highly impacted by wildfires and mudslides to offer poetry as a tool for processing trauma and fear
• We will publish hundreds of K-12 youth from California in our climate-themed statewide anthology of student poetry in 2020, offering free copies to each
• We will continue to increase student motivation and sense of purpose in school
• We will offer professional poets throughout the state a meaningful pathway to give back to their local communities as Poet-Teachers
Your donations make a difference! We are just over halfway to our goal of raising $60,000 by December 31st. Please give what you can to support this important work. There are many ways to donate; You can visit our website to make an online gift, mail a check (P.O. Box 1328, Santa Rosa, CA 95402) or add a name to the 1,000 Hearts for Poetry Wall below.
Warm thanks for your ongoing support of poetry,
