Friday, December 27  - Bowood Farms - Pineapple Watercolor for Kids 10a - 11:30a - Artist and gardener, Amy Woods will lead this kid-friendly watercolor workshop designed for kids ages 10 and up. Amy will introduce the students to their palette of paints and show them how to handle a watercolor brush. After a warm up exercise, Amy will lead them in painting a colorful pineapple design. All materials and supplies are provided, and everyone will go home with their finished painting. Workshop is limited to 8 participants. Taught by Amy Woods. $45.

Saturday, December 28 - Bowood Farms-  Painting with India Ink - 10a - 12pAndrea Henry Tharian will lead this workshop on how to paint flowers from the garden using India ink. You will learn how to paint values through a process of layering ink washes. The class will focus on looking at form and shape - perfect for those new to drawing and painting, although all levels of experience are welcome. All materials and supplies are provided, and you’ll go home your India ink and paintbrush to continue your practice. Workshop is limited to 12 participants.  Taught by Andrea Tharian. $60

Saturday, December 28 - Bowood Farms - Amaryllis Watercolor Study - 1-3pm. Artist and gardener, Amy Woods will lead this watercolor workshop using winter-blooming amaryllis for inspiration. You will learn to work from the actual subject, rather than photos, to create loose and unique paintings. Get to know your palette and explore what makes painting with watercolor unique. All materials and supplies are provided, and you’ll go home with your own palette and paintbrush to continue your practice. All skill levels are welcome. Workshop is limited to 12 participants.

Tuesday, December 31 - The Chase Park Plaza - The New Year's Eve Ball at The Chase Park Plaza - 8:30-1:30am - Dress to impress for 7th Annual New Year's Eve Ball at The Chase Park Plaza presented by One80 Entertainment. Come out and see the multi-million dollar renovation that has taken place at this iconic property!

🎊 The celebration takes place in the legendary Khorassan Ballroom and will feature musical performances of DJ Greasy, Lamar Harris & The L, and a Frank Sinatra tribute. Also, the event will have a premium open bar, passed hors d'oeuvres, a balloon drop, and a champagne toast at midnight.

🥂 Premium Open Bar will feature EFFEN Vodka, Makers Mark, Jim Beam, Hornito's Tequila, Bud Light, Bud Select, Budweiser, Goose 312, and Stella Artois.

Tuesday, December 31 - New Year's at Evangeline's  - New Year's Eve! The Fiddly Bits return to Evangeline's to ring in the New Year. Join us to share some great music and food. Five bands, no cover. Make a reservation to get a table, so you can relax and get your groove on in style. The music starts at 5:45, we are smack, dab right in the middle at 8:30.
Wednesday, January 1 - Gamlin Whiskey House - Women & Whiskey - On the first Wednesday of every month, raise a glass with us and your fellow women who whiskey! January's dinner will be hosted by Women & Whiskey founder Amy Pingel Gamlin, who'll be sharing some of her favorite cocktails and whiskey, as well as delicious boozy cake balls. Tickets are $65 per person and include dinner, drinks, whisky pairings, gratuity and, of course, an awesome night out! Guests will also get to sample treats from Amy’s Cake Pop Shop and Boozy Bites.
Thursday, January 9 - New City School -  Winter Open House at New City School - 
Take a tour and meet Head of School Alexis Wright, faculty and staff, and current parents at New City School’s Winter Open House. This event on Thursday, January 9th, will begin with a tour of our school starting at 6:00pm, and ending with a Q&A session, where we will answer all your questions about New City School and the admissions process, including our Variable Tuition program. If you’ve never visited us, you should come see for yourself:  New City School is unlike anywhere you’ve been before! RSVPs are required for this event: click here to register.
Saturday, January 11,  Saturday Story Time at New City School - Join us for stories, songs, crafts (and coffee!) at New City! During the school year, Heidi Kehle (one of our wonderful preschool teachers), shares her stories and musical magic through Story Time each month from 9:30 - 11:00 am in the New City School Library. Stories and activities are designed for children from infant/toddler through second grade. Saturday Story Time is free and snacks are provided. You can also sign up to receive updates about upcoming Story Time Saturdays!

Wednesday, January 15 - World Chess Hall of FameBeing Played: Artist Talk with Michael Drummond - 6:30-8p - Join fashion designer Michael Drummond for a gallery talk about his latest solo exhibition, "Michael Drummond: Being Played," featuring garments inspired by the intersection of chess, fashion, and the world’s current climate crisis. Learn more about the pieces on view as Michael discusses his processes and various inspirations. Following the talk, Drummond and fashion editor Sarah Stallmann will engage in a dialogue, expanding on the topics and themes presented in the exhibition and will answer questions from the audience.
Thursday, January 16 - World Chess Hall of Fame - Composer Series: Beethoven 250th Festival: String Quartet - 7-8p - 2020 marks the 250th birthday celebration for Ludwig van Beethoven, one of the most beloved and influential composers of all time. Countless musicians, ensembles, and performing arts organizations around the world will honor his incredible legacy throughout the calendar year. The World Chess Hall of Fame will join the festivities in presenting a 6-concert festival dedicated to some of Beethoven’s greatest works; the Late String Quartets performed by members of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and the Complete Piano Sonatas featuring Peter Henderson in an all-day marathon event on Saturday, August 29th, 2020.
Wedneseday, January 22 - World Chess Hall of Fame Crafts & Cocktails: Embroidery with Tara Meyer - 6-8p - Learn more about textile arts and how to stitch in an evening workshop with embroidery maven Tara Meyer. Using inspiration from the garments showcased in "Michael Drummond: Being Played," guests will practice basic embroidery and beading techniques to create wearable floral designs. Feel free to bring your own clothing or accessories to spruce-up or use the materials provided. Availability is limited to 15 guests.
Cathedral Concerts announces their 2019 - 2020 season - Saint Louis Cathedral Concerts, an independent nonprofit that brings sacred and classical music to St. Louis from world-class musicians, releases its concert lineup for the 27th season. The 2019-2020 season kicks off Monday, July 29th at 8:00pm, and continues through Friday, April 21st, 2020. The series of live concerts will showcase notable musicians in one of the world’s most striking cathedrals, the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis located at 4431 Lindell Blvd. 
The Cathedral Concerts’ 27th Concert Series Season includes:
