Cool Things I Learned This Month

Do you like learning from others?

To keep you company over the holidays, please enjoy this treasure chest of famous speeches and talks from James Clear's website that I've been working my way through.

Two of my favorites are linked below...
Sir Ken Robinson, “Do Schools Kill Creativity?”
A very funny, yet sobering look at the education system and how it stifles creativity in its current form, something I've written about too.

What will really sober you up is when you realize this was delivered 12 years ago!
Video of Sir Ken Robinson, “Do Schools Kill Creativity?”
"If all the insects were to disappear from the Earth, within 50 years, all life on Earth would end. If all human beings disappeared from the Earth, within 50 years, all forms of life would flourish."
David Foster Wallace, “This is Water”
The most obvious, important realities are often the ones that are hardest to see and talk about. Learning how to think really means learning how to exercise some control over how and what you think. It means being conscious and aware enough to choose what you pay attention to and to choose how you construct meaning from experience. The alternative is unconsciousness, the default setting, the rat race, the constant gnawing sense of having had, and lost, some infinite thing.
Audio of David Foster Wallace, “This is Water”
"The really important kind of freedom involves attention and awareness and discipline, and being able truly to care about other people and to sacrifice for them over and over in myriad petty, unsexy ways every day."
