MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR

It has been great to meet so many friends of St Katharine's in my
first 12 weeks of arriving. Thank you for all the greetings and good wishes. I have been quite astounded at the all the amazing organisations that have been using St Katharine's for their board meetings, training or events. It has also been lovely each morning at breakfast to bump into people with interesting stories of their connection with St Katharine's. One lady was telling me of her last visit 40 years ago when everyone had to make their own beds and eat in silence. It is also lovely that many arrive simply looking for a good value B&B in London and when they walk through reception they realise they have come to something quite special.

At the end of this year and decade as we prepare for our Christmas break and the new year, can I say thank you to all the guests who have been with us in the past year. And thank you to all the staff team who see their work in St Katharine's as more than a job, who create the special culture and hospitality that is so appreciated.

In the new year, we will have refurbished the Yurt and the community room to continue to provide connecting point in Limehouse. We will also have a beautifully refurbished drawing room in the main house. We will also update the signs around the site, to help people find us.
Too many people are wondering around LImehouse with their phones and GPS and getting very confused.

For those of us who are Christian, at this time we remember the
amazing events of that first Christmas when the glory and presence of the living God takes flesh in human form. This changes everything and opens up the possibility of each person being taken into the presence of God who loves us and offers us this Christmas the present of his presence.  I wish all the friends and contacts of St Katharine's a very Happy Christmas and a joyful new year.

A Christmas Social for Trustee's and staff at RFSK

During the busy month of December, we managed to take time out to have a social for staff and The Court of Trustee's of RFSK to meet. Prayers in the chapel were followed by a Christmas lunch where everyone mingled and shared their personal stories of working together at RFSK.

Special Quiet Day at St Katharine's

to reflect on our own nature in the light of nature itself

BOOK

Brian Draper’s new book Soulful Nature: A Spiritual Field Guide (co-written with botanist Howard Green) reflects on how we discover more of our own nature from within nature itself. He went on 12 walks in the South of England, across the 12 months of the year, following in the footsteps of poets, scientists, nature writers, even fossil hunters … in search of a deeper communion with God and Creation along the way.
