Friday 20th December, 5-9pm - Trading Details

Good morning traders!

Below are all the details you need to know for the night market on Friday 20th December, 5-9pm.

This is our third December market and final market of the year 2019, So if you're planning on bringing along anything to sell which is festive, seasonal or in any other way notable, do make sure to let me know, ideally with some decent images, so we can include it on our social media in the run up to Saturday and herd some Christmas shoppers in the direction of your stall.

Also, REMEMBER: we are having a Christmas competition for our traders across all our December markets, with the best decorated stall receiving a free booking in the new year. We've had a few contenders over the past couple of weekends but everything is still to play for.

A reminder about lighting: we provide general decorative festoon lighting for night markets during darker months of the year, but these are not very bright. They are designed for general lighting and to help create a decorative atmosphere at the night markets, rather than for task or product display lighting.

We would strongly recommend if you haven't already, that you purchase additional battery-powered lighting if you wish to light product displays or provide extra task lighting for cooking in your stall. Such things are fairly cheap and widely available - for instance, they can be purchased from Argos for under a tenner.

Please pay attention to the arrival times listed below, and we'd really appreciate it if everyone could arrive in plenty of time so as not to hold our setup team up.

Can you also make sure you have:
  • Emailed me with a copy of your public liability insurance and (food traders only) food hygiene training certificates, if not uploaded on booking
  • Provided details and wattage for your electrical equipment.

A reminder that Golden Giving is our payment processor - it is set up for charities but also supports social enterprises such as ourselves, this is why it uses the word 'donation'. It's crucial you follow the instructions on the Payment Portal page about which boxes to tick so that your payments don't come through as anonymous.

Important details for trading below:

Allergens: New legislation came into force in December 2014 called the Food Information for Consumers Regulation (EU FIC) which will change the way allergen information appears on labels and on food that is pre-packed, sold loose or served outside the home. There are 14 allergens on the list – if you are a food and/or drinks trader, you must display signage regarding the allergens on the list if they are contained in your food or drinks. The list, and guidance on displaying allergen information, is available here. The Levenshulme Market team will be checking that allergen information is being clearly displayed, and anyone not adhering to the new regulations may not be able to trade on the market in the future.

Food hygiene: Anyone serving food should also make sure they are following all food hygiene regulations - full information available here, so please read before trading.

Parking: Please be aware that we are not the only people who use the car park -  it is not permitted to double park on the site, or block other cars in. We will be keeping a note of any traders who do this.

Parking is also available at the Levenshulme Tesco car park on your trading day should you wish to use it. There are restrictions on parking there, so once you have unloaded at the market site, you will need to print, fill in and display this permit in your vehicle windscreen. IMPORTANT: please only park in the spaces at the extreme far end of the Tesco car park (away from the car park entrance), next to or in front of the recycling bins.

Fire evacuation procedure: We have a fire evacuation procedure in place - please click here for details and ensure that you have familiarised yourself with it prior to trading.

Loading and unloading: You may arrive to unload from 3pm but please ensure you have finished unloading by 4.15pm. Bear in mind that it might be busy at this time on a Friday, so please leave yourself enough time to get there and aim to arrive early.

Hours of trading: The night market runs from 5pm to 9pm. You should be ready to trade at 4.45pm at the very latest and you should not vacate your pitch until 9pm.

Waste: You are responsible for removing all of your own waste from the market. Levenshulme, like most urban areas, has a pest issue and any waste left on site only serves to make that worse. Please also do not put anything down the drains - those of you who have traded with us on rainy days know they have problems enough without having to deal with your waste too!

Tables: Every stall booking is provided with one table per 3mx3m stall. We have only a very limited amount of extra tables that are allocated by us to traders who have agreed with us in advance that they can have an extra table.

Finding us: Our postcode for sat navs is M19 3AB - if you don't have a sat nav we are still easy to find - we are just off the A6 in Levenshulme, to reach us you need to turn onto Farmside Place by Hennigan's Sports Bar, which is just past the turnoff to Levenshulme Station (if you're coming from Stockport, just before it if you're coming from Manchester).

Our cancellation policy for ALL traders is as follows:

You are free to cancel bookings provided you give us at least 7 days' notice before your trading date, but there will now be an admin charge (a small percentage of your stall fee) that will not be refunded. Please see our updated Cancellation Policy below (applies to all market types), details of admin fees are included on our Price List for your reference. If you've received this email and have completely forgotten that you booked in to trade and can no longer make it, please do get in touch - it is always better to let us know, no matter how last minute, than to simply not show up.

Cancellation of a stall by a trader (must be done by email only):

  • UP TO 7 days before trading date - the stall fee will be refunded minus admin fee
  • AFTER 7 days before trading date – no refund due, the full stall fee will be retained
If we are forced to cancel a market due to adverse weather (force majeure):
  • The stall fee will be refunded minus admin fee.

Issues or questions: If you have any queries please email me at richard@levymarket.com and I will endeavour to help as quickly as possible.

Best regards,
