Streets for People - Get involved!

Streets for People is an exciting project transforming local streets into more people-friendly places and we are currently seeking your feedback on these two local projects:

Molly Hadfield Social Justice Oration - Save the date

Mark Thursday 5 March in your diary and join us for the Molly Hadfield Social Justice Oration to celebrate International Women's Day in Darebin.

Free training program for young people

Action on Disability within Ethnic Communities (ADEC) is hosting a training workshop in Preston for young people who have lived experience of disability or who are interested in studying social, disability and community studies. Learn about self-advocacy, mental health and self-care, community engagement, My Aged Care and National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Having a Say Conference 2020

'A Good Life. Are We There Yet?' is the theme of Having a Say Conference 2020.

Organised by the Victorian Advocacy League for Individuals with Disability (VALID), this is the largest conference for people with disabilities in Australia.


When: Monday 24 February to Wednesday 26 February, 2020 
Venue: Deakin University Waterfront Campus, Geelong, Victoria.

Every Australian Counts

Every Australian Counts is a grassroots campaign that brings together people with disability, their families, carers, and people from the sector and successfully lobbied for the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). It is now ramping up the pressure to ensure the scheme is delivering on its promise to people with disability and works for all who rely on it. Religious Discrimination Bill: Disability Fact Sheet

Australian Government has just released its second draft of the Religious Discrimination Bill. This Bill aims to protect people of faith and without faith from discrimination in certain areas of public life. This includes employment, education and the provision of goods and services. Learn about how the proposed changes to the Bill may affect people with disabilities.
Hidden Disability Program at the International Terminal at Melbourne Airport

Airports can be very stressful for all of us, particularly, if traveling overseas. For community members with invisible disabilities, including autism, anxiety issues, mental health conditions, dementia, visual impairments, deafness and hearing loss this experience can be even more stressful. Melbourne Airport has recently implemented the Hidden Disability Program to support community members. Bushfire support for people with disability

IDEAS, an Australian charity, has launched an eBility, a Temporary Bushfire Crisis Relief Exchange site. The website supports donations of accessible disability equipment and helps community members find much-needed equipment in good working condition.
