First Captains Set Sail

Captaintreacherous 2YOs make their mark

His American crops have been outstanding, leading the juvenile sire tables with his first two crops, but we got a sneak peak of what to expect from CAPTAINTREACHEROUS' first Australasian crop on Friday night in the Breckon Farms Young Guns heat in New Zealand.

Three CAPTAINTREACHEROUS runners had their debut in the race at Alexandra Park (Auckland) with It's All About Faith securing the win, Platinum Stride taking fourth and Captain Nemo into eighth place. Despite being challenged in the straight, the Mark Purdon & Natalie Rasmussen-trained colt fought on impressively to take victory in 1:56.4 (LQ 28.3).

It's All About Faith is from successful mare Veste, who won the Group 1 Caduceus Club Classic as a 2YO and since retiring has left five progeny, four of which have raced (all winners). She is by champion sire Christian Cullen, which has been a very popular cross with breeders to CAPTAINTREACHEROUS.

Congratulations to connections and Empire's best wishes to starters in the Young Guns Finals (Cardigan Bay Stakes & Delightful Lady Classic) on Auckland Cup night!
