Hey everyone,
How are you all doing this holiday season? This past Friday was my last vacation day of the year before the office is closed for break, so I felt like I had to make the most of it. Which meant spending the day doing things I don’t normally do. One thing I NEVER do? Hang out in the Upper East Side. It’s kind of far, inconvenient for me to get to, and there’s a vibe that’s decidedly not me. But the vibe is also its appeal: you really notice the ‘old money’ there, and it can feel like the classic New York you see in the movies. Like, how street trees are planted in beds of cabbage—cabbage! And the white-gloved doormen standing outside of the buildings. And ladies dressed in long camel coats and sensible shoes. So, sometimes things in your own city can feel like a foreign destination. And that’s why I decided to spend my day on the Upper East Side. When I’m by myself, I can cover a lot of ground, so check out what I got up to in my latest money diary. I also planned to buy a small thing from Barneys, like hand soap, but that didn’t go as planned…
Hope your week is going well!
