Rabbi's Message

Some of you may have read my piece in the Register Guard, “Keep Christ in Christmas”--an attempt to educate non-Jews about why it’s important not to universalize this season. At the same time, I recognize that many in our community wrestle with the question of how we balance multiple cultural traditions in our homes--even when we are committed to cultivating a Jewish home and raising Jewish children. This article from InterfaithFamily shares guidance for those who wrestle with the Christmas tree question. For those households wanting to deepen your Hanukkah observance and become Modern Maccabees at the same time in the fight against climate change, consider following Rabbi Arthur Waskow’s #Hanukkah8Days4Climate on ritual steps. And on a lighter note, enjoy this new Maccabeats video!

Spotlight on. . .
