Cold weather impacts I-10 Connect Project
Concrete work will be rescheduled when overnight temperatures rise

EL PASO, Texas — This week’s cold weather means crews must rescheduled concrete work on a new direct connector ramp over Interstate 10 immediately west of US 54. According to the American Concrete Institute, concrete poured in very cold weather is weaker than concrete poured at the correct temperature.
 
While concrete work will be rescheduled, overnight complete closures of I-10 at US 54 will continue as planned beginning at 9pm on Tuesday, December 17, and Wednesday, December 18. The overnight closures will allow crews to replace temporary striping on I-10 under US 54 and perform necessary utility work.

Tuesday, December 17, and Wednesday,

• I-10 will be closed to all traffic at US 54.
• Ramp C which connects northbound US 54 to eastbound I-10 will be closed to all traffic.
• Ramp L which connects Gateway Boulevard West to westbound I-10 at Raynolds Street will be closed to all traffic.
• DETOUR: Eastbound and westbound traffic on I-10 will take Exit 22B (US 54/Alamogordo/Juárez/Fort Bliss), travel north on US 54 to Exit 22B (Pershing Drive), use the Pershing Turnaround, enter southbound US 54 and follow signs to eastbound I-10, westbound I-10 or Juárez.

• Ramps F and G, which connect I-10 to Juárez at the Spaghetti Bowl, remain detoured through northbound US 54 to Pershing Drive until further notice.
• Ramp T, which connects Gateway Boulevard North to northbound US 54 north of US 62 (Paisano Drive), remains closed until further notice.
• Both turnarounds under US 54 at US 62 (Paisano Drive) remain closed until further notice.
• Intermittent lane closures will be in place on US 54 between Loop 375 and Spur 601.
• Intermittent lane closures will be in place on Gateway Boulevard East between Piedras Street and US 62/180 (Paisano Drive).
• Lane closures will be in place on eastbound and westbound SH 20 (Alameda Avenue) at US 54 until further notice.
• Lane closures will be in place on eastbound and westbound US 62 (Paisano Drive) between I-110 and US 54 until further notice.
• Lane closures will be in place on Ramp D, which connects southbound US 54 to eastbound I-10 until further notice.
• Lane closures will be in place on Gateway Boulevard South between Findley Avenue and US 62 (Paisano Drive) until further notice.
• Intermittent closures of the onramp which connects Gateway Boulevard East to eastbound I-10 at Loop 478 (Copia Street).
• Intermittent closures on Gateway Boulevard East between Piedras Street and US 62/180 (Paisano Drive).
• Intermittent closures on Gateway Boulevard West between Boone Street and Palm Street.
• Intermittent closures of Durazno Avenue, Rosa Avenue and Uva Street.
• Intermittent lane closures on Ramp H which connects eastbound I-10 to northbound US 54.

About the I-10 Connect Project

The I-10 Connect project is at the intersection of Interstate 10 and US 54 in El Paso County. The project extends from I-10 to Loop 375 (Cesar Chávez Border Highway) and provides access to the Bridge of the Americas (BOTA) via I-110. The $96 million project includes the construction of four new direct connectors, a full reconstruction of the I-110/US 62 (Paisano Drive) interchange, and removes exit ramps from US 62 to I-110.

I-10 Connect will improve connectivity between I-10 and Loop 375, also providing an alternate route to I-10. It started February 19, 2019, and is expected to be complete in less than three years.

Se pospone la obra de concreto hasta que se aumenten las temperaturas nocturnas

EL PASO, Texas — Las temperaturas bajas provocan reagendar la obra de concreto para un nuevo puente interconector arriba de I-10 al oeste de US 54. Según el Instituto Americano de Concreto, el concreto que se vacía en tiempos muy fríos es menos fuerte que el concreto que se vacía a la temperatura correcta. 

Aunque se pospone el trabajo de concreto, siguen programados los cierres nocturnos de I-10 sobre US 54 para empezar a las 9pm el martes 17 y el miercoles 18 de diciembre. Estos cierres permitirán el trazado de carriles en I-10 debajo de US 54 y proporcionan espacio al trabajo en servicios públicos.

• I-10 cierra para todo tráfico sobre US 54.
• La Rampa C que conecta US 54 Norte a I-10 Este cierra para todo tráfico.
• La Rampa L que conecta Gateway Boulevard West a I-10 Oeste sobre la Calle Raynolds Este cierra al tráfico.
• DESVIACIÓN: Todo tránsito de ambos sentidos en I-10 toma la Salida 22B (US 54/Alamogrdo/Juárez/Fort
• Bliss), continua hacia el Norte en US 54 hacia la Salida 22B (Pershing Drive), utiliza el retorno, se integra alUS 54 Sur y sigue los señalamientos hacia I-10 Este, I-10 Oeste o Cd. Juárez.

• Las Rampas F y G que conectan I-10 a Cd. Juárez sobre Spaghetti Bowl permanecen desviados por US 54 Norte hacia Pershing Drive hasta nuevo aviso 
• La Rampa T que conecta Gateway Norte Boulevard a US-54 Norte al norte de US 62 (Paisano) permanecerá cerrada hasta nuevo aviso 
• Los dos retornos en US-62 (Paisano Drive) por debajo del US 54 permanecen cerrados hasta nuevo aviso
