Quo Vadis Ministry!

By Lisa McMahon

Dear Friends,
We have gone through another year together and we praise the Lord and give Him our thanks for all of His wonderful mercies and love. He has answered prayers, carried us through difficult times, whispered His love to us, and cheered us up on our way. What an awesome God we serve!
Friends, we also thank you very much for your support of this ministry during the year 2019. Thank you for sending us financial support, for your prayers, and for sharing your life with us. Remember we are all in this together for God and we appreciate each and every one of you!

We at Quo Vadis are sending you our best wishes for a warm Christmas season and a very blessed New Year in 2020! May God our Lord be the sufficiency and light upon your pathway every day of your life.

May your steps be directed towards Him always because He is the root of your life.

Love Lisa.

"I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year, "Give me a light that I may tread softly into the unknown; and he replied "Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God, that shall do for you better than a light and be safer than a known way."

Message From Our President

Emmanuel- God with us.

Recently my wife and I were invited to a function where we listened to people share about the success and good times they have had throughout this year. These people achieved a lot because they had a very good and prosperous year. They made a lot of money, they had successful business dealings, they had the opportunity to go for multiple holidays throughout the year and they are happy. After all, it seems that they did everything right and they feel that God has blessed them.

But I would like to identify myself with those who were not as fortunate as these other people. Some of us had a year full of hardship, struggles, and anxieties. Some of us were rejected from even our own families. Forgotten, left alone, sick, suffering and in pain. Some of us lost loved ones, wives, husbands, children. Enormous pain and distress can be found not only in our own surroundings, but with people struggling everywhere.

What about those Christians who were killed in other countries for religious persecution? Their year has been difficult beyond imagination. Someone actually calculated that on average 11 Christians are being killed in this world every single day. This knowledge alone should drive us all to our knees in prayer and then to our feet to stand with our brothers and sisters around the world, because in every country, no matter how challenging, there are Christians serving God. Despite persecution and hardship in life they remain faithful to Jesus and are living for Him, no matter what!

Our life in the west is still pretty wonderful in comparison to those persecuted Christians around the world. Perhaps our lives may also drastically change here in the west very soon and I believe they will, but I am encouraged with this verse from Romans 5:4-5
“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that sufferings produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. ”

We at Quo Vadis are thankful for God’s promises and for God’s amazing love and comfort through His Word. I am sure you are too. His Word is the lamp to our feet. He does not leave His faithful ones comfortless. Jesus has never abandoned anyone who believes on Him, He has always identified with His people throughout past history and continues to do so in the present.

God Almighty! Emmanuel – God with us.

As we sail in our ships of life, we may enter seasons of wondering and waiting. The voyage may seem at times worrisome, directionless and even endless. But through the torrential rains and stormy winds of life we must always remember that God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. His love is our firm foundation and that love will carry us through all circumstances, even into and throughout the next year of 2020. Have courage!

Do not let go of Jesus. Remain faithful and grateful because He is at the helm of yours and my ship.
Jesus said, I am with you always, till the end of the world.

May we live for His purpose and for His glory in 2020.

How Generous!

Dear friends,

Do you like to count your blessings? Do you do it every day? I don’t. I do it often, but not nearly often enough.  I’m like my kids – oblivious most of the time to all that is being done for me, because I’m so used to it.

God is so very generous! The rain falls for the unrighteous along with the righteous, and the sun shines equally on us, as well. What an example for us of how God wants us to be with those whose perspective differs from ours. It is all too easy for us to feel that there is a difference between us and them in God’s eyes, but the reality is that God is equally generous to both. He loves both with an infinite, everlasting, generous love that compelled Him to allow Jesus to come down to this earth, setting aside His divinity for that time, and becoming a human, like us, forever, just to save as many of us poor wretched sinners as possible. If that thought doesn’t move our hearts, we need some serious healing.

Do you believe Jesus is coming again, soon? I do. Are you longing for that day? Really? If so, why are you longing for it? I used to want Jesus to come in order that I could escape from this wretched, sin-sick place, to a place of peace and happiness. I wanted Him to come and deal with all the wicked people who saw things differently than I did. See how un-generous I can be?  Sound familiar?

What was Jesus’ final prayer about, before He went to the cross?  It was about unity – “that they may be one, Father, as You and I are One …” Such generosity!  Jesus wants us to share the amazing unity He has with our Father!  And He wants us to not only share that unity with Him, but with each other. I can tell you, it takes the generous heart of God, in us, for that to happen.

I want God’s open heart for people. I want His generosity toward them - generosity that doesn’t assume we are enemies, but friends; that forgives offenses – even intended ones; that will do anything to help others know how much they are loved by their Creator; generosity that can’t wait to spend eternity with them!

Perhaps God’s generosity is best shown by His still-open heart.  Despite all the rejection, ridicule, rebellion, hatred, and despising He has received, His heart remains open to those very ones.  It even remains open to the ones of us who call ourselves His, yet despise those He loves – and isn’t that His greatest generosity of all?  We can only love Him as much as the one we love the least, yet, still, He loves us.

How generous! Father, make us as generous as You!

I’m praying for you,
Erna
