JANUARY 2020 NEWSLETTER
Hello New Day, New Month, New Year, and New Decade! I greet you with hope! Within each of you, time frames, is the potential of seeing God’s Kin-dom emerge more fully. May our Loving God open all hearts to fully participate in on-going Incarnation!

Catholics for Peace and Justice is now 17 years old, and ready for a new phase of life. Many individuals are also looking for new directions or tweaking in service of God’s Kin-dom. We invite and urge you to join in personal and community re-visioning at Pizza with Purpose on Wed January 22 at Holy Rosary Church; see the flyer for more information.

May this New Day, New Month, New Year, and New Decade be filled with purposeful, life-giving work and joy for us all!

Pope Francis Quote
The Gospel offers the chance to live life . . . with intensity: “Life grows by being given away, and it weakens in isolation and comfort. Indeed, those who enjoy life most are those who leave security on the shore and become excited by the mission of communicating life to others”. When the Church summons Christians to take up the task of evangelization, she is simply pointing to the source of authentic personal fulfilment.

Pope Francis, The Joy of the Gospel, 10.

A Conversation about Trafficking in our Community - Jan 29
The Greater Milwaukee area is among the top cities for human trafficking in the nation. Yet, we still tend to believe it doesn’t happen here. This state of denial leaves our children and families open to victimization. Learn how youth and adults are being coerced into trafficking, why they can’t see their way out, how social media plays a big role in the luring, grooming and grand scheme of trafficking, and how we can keep our families safe. PRAY

“Standing at the Gate of the New Year” by Joyce Rupp

Sacred Mystery,
waiting at the threshold of this new year,
you open the gates and beckon to me:

“Come! Come!
Be not wary of what awaits you
as you enter the unknown terrain,
be not doubtful of your ability
to grow from its joys and sorrows.

For I am with you.
I will be your Guide.
I will be your Protector.
You will never be alone.”

Guardian of this new year,
I set aside my fears, worries, concerns,
I open my life to mystery, to beauty,
to hospitality, to questions,
to the endless opportunity
of discovering you in my relationships,
and to all the silent wisps of wonder
 that will draw me to your heart.

I welcome your unfailing Presence
and walk with hope into this new year.

REFLECT

Yearning for a new way will not produce it. Only ending the old way can do that.
You cannot hold onto the old, all the while declaring that you want something new.
The old will defy the new;
The old will deny the new;
The old will decry the new.
There is only one way to bring in the new. You must make room for it.

—Neale Donald Walsch
