International Recruitment to posts and Tier 2 Visa Sponsorship
Funding available until end of January 2020.

The local International GP Recruitment (IGPR) Team have been working with practices across the STP over the last 9 months to support practices through the process to obtain Tier 2 sponsorship which in turn enables recruitment of non EEA nationals either through recruiting qualifying GP Registrars or through general vacancy advertisements for clinical roles.

NHSE have now advised that the reimbursement of the sponsorship practice application costs will only be available for applications made prior to the end of January 2020.

We would therefore like to encourage all practices across the STP to take advantage of this offer before it ends as the sponsorship licence lasts for up to 4 years so whilst it may not be required immediately it might be of use in the future.

Webinars

Join a webinar on the GP Patient Survey - 9/1/20 1300-1400

The 2020 GP Patient Survey launches on 6 January. Last year, more than 770,000 people gave feedback on around 7,000 GP practices across England. The survey provides a key source of information about the performance of practices, CCGs and STPs.
We’re hosting a webinar for commissioners about the survey and its data, and its value to CCGs and STPs. We’ll go through a local case study of how the information has been used. During the webinar you can comment on the survey, ask questions and suggest how it could be more useful. To register, please contact ENGLAND.Insight-Queries@nhs.net.

New post-polypectomy and post-colorectal cancer resection surveillance guidelines

We are asking CCGs to support trusts with a colonoscopy service to implement new guidance on polyp surveillance. Expert clinical opinion suggests that full implementation of the guidance could reduce the demand for surveillance colonoscopy in symptomatic services by up to 70% and support trusts to maintain service availability over winter.
Through Cancer Alliances we have asked symptomatic services in trusts with a colonoscopy service to nominate a consultant ‘trust surveillance lead’ with implementation of the guidance in their job plan by 30 September 2020. PHE has sent separate communications to screening services.

Have your front line staff had their flu jab?

Our Chief Nursing Officer Ruth May is spearheading this year’s drive to ensure as many front line nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals as possible get vaccinated against seasonal flu – meaning they are both less likely to need time off over the busy winter period, and less likely to pass on the virus to vulnerable patients.  Please ensure you and your colleagues get your flu vaccination this year.
