Dave, Library Page: The small town characters, settings, and situations that emanate from Lake Wobegon Days and tales spun by Garrison Keillor during "A Prairie Home Companion" public radio shows gently reveal common triumphs and travails. Many of us are Lake Wobegon natives. I occasionally journey to Lake Wobegon to remind myself we always will live in "the little town that time forgot and the decades cannot improve ... where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average."
Kelli, Outreach Coordinator: The Book of Gutsy Women: Favorite Stories of Courage and Resilience by Hilary and Chelsea Clinton covers the gamut of women who have faced adversity, challenges, and opposition to come out on top. The book contains short essays about each woman that are easy to read in a sitting with commentary by the authors. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an inspirational book with strong female characters and courageous historical stories.
Rachel, Circulation Assistant: I recommend the book Katt vs Dogg by James Patterson. This book is a fast read and will have you laughing out loud. It is a great book for children and adults to read together. If you love animals you will love this book.
Valerie, Youth Services Assistant: I really enjoy the podcasts from the radio program On Being. The host, Krista Tippett, brilliantly interviews a wide variety of people who are devoted to improving the human condition from many different angles. They are always very inspiring to me and help me on my spiritual journey.
