By Marco Ciappelli & Sean Martin

When a year ends, people love to make predictions for what will happen in the new one. Astrologers, fashion journalists, and cybersecurity experts, in particular, seem to fancy this ancient practice of divination. Sure, these are fun. But what’s really going to happen to humanity in the far, distant future?
Is technology going to save us? Is technology going to provide us a better life?
What if we what we really need is to look back in order to move forward with a plan? What if we could pinpoint those moments in time when societies found themselves in front of a fork in the road and we took the wrong path for the wrong reasons?
Read on to question even more. Then watch the video and have a listen to this episode to have your head spin.

Shadow IT may normally have a negative connotation, but there may also be an underlying opportunity that isn’t being addressed. Instead of being frustrated with departments this could be an opportunity. IT could instead leverage other department efforts to find and vet new solutions. In order to do this, it’s IT’s job to equip them with the right information at the right time and do it in a way that is convenient and easy. Become the IT department that the modern business needs and you should see a decrease in the negative impact of shadow IT.
