Year end letter 2019

As 2019 draws to a close, and 2020 waves on the horizon, I am forced to reflect on a tumultuous year.  A year that sent me reeling on many levels, shattered me on another, and yet kept me humble, allowed me to grow and deeply appreciate the fragility of life.

Thank you from Amori and I
Our deepest appreciation to everyone who supported us during the more difficult times of 2019 – family, friends and patients alike. Your personal messages, your unselfish support, your words of encouragement and your advice kept us standing when we felt that crawling was the only way forward.

We are humbled by your love.
We are filled with immense gratitude, and we are honoured to share our lives every day with three special people, who have chosen to grace our lives:

Sr Beryl Mouton

Sr Beryl, words will never be enough to thank you. There is no one else we would rather share our patients with. To wake up every morning, and go to bed every night, knowing that you will take care of our patients the same way that we do; to know that you have our backs when the going gets tough; to know that you shower emotional support when our buckets run empty; to know that our patients are in the hands of a professional, caring, empathic, passionate person who lives life with integrity and respect, is a true gift. Thank you for your unending support, your genius, practical solutions, the extra miles you walk every single day.  We salute you as a truly valued colleague. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

Kash Sidoo

“Kashy”, you crept into our hearts in 2011, and you know it was hard to say goodbye. Thank you for choosing to come back when you were ready. Your endless energy and passion for what you do, your professionalism and the empathy and integrity with which you represent our practice never goes unnoticed. Thank you for making the Vincent Pallotti practice your home.

Lynda Parish

Lynda, thank you for choosing to come back to our practice. You still exude the same professionalism, empathy and integrity that makes you unique. Your respect and passion for our patients never go unnoticed. Thank you for making the Blaauwberg practice your home.

Our patients – every one of you
Without you, our lives will be less special. We cherish each consultation, each visit to theatre, each visit to your hospital bed. You touch our lives profoundly. Thank you for choosing our practice to touch your life.  We are humbled.

From all of us
As a practice team, we would like to thank everyone who touched our lives this year. We are supported by a tremendously large group of experts: security guards, parking guards and porters, cleaning staff and maintenance staff, hospital reception staff, hospital management teams, company representatives, nursing staff in theatres and wards, trauma reception staff, trauma nursing staff, trauma doctors, general practitioners and specialists who refer and whom we refer to. The list is never ending. To each of you – please know that we appreciate you, that we cherish you. Thank you.

P I P E R – An acronym to represent what we stand for as a practice

Professionalism – For us this embodies that the personal stays at home, and that our patients are centre stage of our daily lives. We leave our emotions and personal lives at the practice door, and our daily activities, our tone, our behaviour, our attitude and our actions focus on those we have decided to serve as part of our life’s journey.

Integrity – Our strong moral principles, being whole an undivided and being honest with ourselves, with one another and with our patients are the things that bind us together. It embodies our desire to be consistent every day when we touch the lives of our patients.

Passion – We love what we do, and we do what we love. We endeavour to have fun, to enjoy what we do and to share that passion and fun with our patients. We endeavour to share our enthusiasm with everyone every day.

Empathy – As we step into the practice every morning, we take off our shoes, and step into those of our patients, their families and their support group. Our practice protocols and systems are developed and honed around what would make things easier for the people we serve and the lives we touch.

Respect – We share a feeling of deep appreciation and regard for one another, but above all, for the feelings and rights of our patients.

“And now, after everything, I know this: I am here, and that reason is bigger than me. So I will carry on with great faith beyond what I can see, in pursuit of bold courage on the adventure of the journey.” Morgan Harper Nichols
