Nestor Campos and Levee Ready Columbia selected for Henrietta Awards!
We are happy to announce the 20th anniversary of Environmental Awards presented by the Columbia Slough Watershed Council - now dubbed the "Henrietta Awards," after our mascot Henrietta the Great Blue Heron!
Each year, the Council invites nominations for people, groups, and projects that have made a significant contribution to the health of our watershed. From the many amazing nominations received, we are thrilled to share that the 2020 awardees are Nestor Campos of Verde for the Leadership Award and the Levee Ready Columbia project for the Achievement Award.

Holiday Tree Toss is right around the corner! This event is full, but you can sign up for the wait list below!
With all the tinsel and lights removed, we will re-purpose discarded holiday trees by strategically inserting them into existing log jams to increase beneficial salmon habitat in the lower Columbia Slough.
We provide the trees, boats, and hot cocoa. You provide rain gear and holiday cheer!
Thank you to Stephen Rice for producing our event poster! Check out his work on Instagram: @yahwth
Join the Portland Water Bureau and the Columbia Slough Watershed Council for Groundwater 101 – a FREE educational workshop that teaches groundwater basics including local geology and hydrology and what we can do to protect this important resource.
This interactive workshop is presented with a mix of hands-on and classroom-style teaching and is appropriate for adults and high school students aged 17 & up. Light refreshments will be provided.
We’ve had quite a year, and lots to show for it! We are thrilled to present our annual report, which tells the story of all the fun, learning and good you did with us from July 2018 to June 2019.
We have so much to be proud of – from cleaning our waterways, to teaching kids about groundwater and taking new friends on their very first paddle. Open up the report and look back with pride on everything we have achieved together.
Want to get more involved in our work? Join us for our monthly Board Meetings!
There is no Board Meeting in December. The next meeting is scheduled: Jan. 27, 5 - 7:30 p.m.; location TBD

Uplift your watershed neighbors this holiday!
We recognize that cold weather and the holidays can be a challenging time of year for many people, especially people experiencing food insecurity or houselessness.
If you are inspired to action, here are a few ways that you can share food and other critical resources and services with fellow community members this season and all year long.
JOIN exists to support the efforts of individuals and families experiencing homelessness to transition into permanent housing.
Janus Youth Programs provides residential care for adolescents struggling with houselessness and provides a second chance for at-risk youth with few resources and no place to turn for help.
Urban Gleaners feeds over 4,000 people every week through school pantries, summer free farmers markets, and Mobile Markets at low-income housing communities. They collect and redistribute over 60,000 pounds of food every month.
