Every year a local artist from one of the 12 counties in our House District is asked to paint a Christmas ornament. This ornament is displayed on the floor of the Texas House of Representatives for all visitors during the holiday season.
This year’s featured artist is Herman Walker, a western artist, who hand painted scenes from District 53. Walker's work focuses on the "Ranch Life" of Texas and reflects the values and traditions of the cowboy.
The ornament is comprised of beautiful details depicting a Texas Longhorn on one side, and a Pecan Tree, the State Tree of Texas, on the other. The background captures the majestic landscapes of Texas that we proudly call home.
You can find more of Herman Walker's beautiful work here.
