Dear Neighbour

Welcome to our new e-news for Neighbourhood House Staff, Board Members and Volunteers.  In response to your feedback, we're creating one e-news to share information - as many people have more than one hat within a House. We hope you find this useful.  We're always open to your ideas, suggestions and requests. Please send through relevant information you want to share with the network.

We'll share all information under three main headings.  You can go straight to the section relevant to your role if you are short on time, but we encourage you to check the general information too. Don't forget all previous editions of the enews are available by going to the link at the top left of your screen - where it says "Past Issues'.

Thanks all

Active Living grants - its reporting time.

Many Houses took up the opportunity of the $1000 Active Living grants at the end of the last year.  Your brief reports are now due.  Here is a copy of the template to complete for the report - or you can just use the application form you sent in, and add the required information.  Don't forget pictures, brief videos etc are also warmly welcomed, and will help tell the good stories of your projects.

We don't need a lot of information, but a brief report by the end of February would be appreciated.

Cars for Communities and transport options in Neighbourhood Houses

Warrane Mornington Neighbourhood House has started a discussion about replacement of old Cars for Communities vehicles. As a result we're having a meeting in the south to look at options and plans for how new cars might be sourced, or alternative approaches to local transport options.  To inform this discussion it would be great if your House could respond to the survey at the below link.

That's the question that will form the basis of our Asset-Based Community Development training in March, with our friends at the Jeder Institute.
In September several people from the network participated in the Jeder Institute Training at MONA, and some of us will be helping to facilitate these sessions.  NH have again been invited to be part of the next training to happen in the South, at Warrane.

NHT is happy to provide some financial support for attendance for a limited number of places in this training.  Please register your interest ASAP with NHT by emailing karen@nht.org.au

Board members

Southern region vacancy on NHT Board.

There is a short-term  vacancy  for a representative from the Southern Region on the Neighbourhood Houses Tasmania Board. Anyone who is a financial member of a Neighbourhood House is eligible to nominate for NHT board positions. Please see the invitation and full details in this news item on the NHT website.

Board members of Houses as well as other staff or volunteers are encouraged to consider nominating.  An election to vote for those nominated will be carired out at the next Southern Regional Meeting on Monday 16 March.

The position is currently only until the AGM in September, however you will be able to stand for re-election at that time.

Regional meetings for Neighbourhood House Board members

Following requests from some Board members from a couple of Houses, NHT created a time and space for board members from various Houses in the south to meet and share experiences and ideas.  Around 13 people came along and NHT provided a rough agenda which the group shaped on the day.  The session was deemed a success, and the request was made to arrange another meeting.  The best time and date to meet was unclear, so NHT has set up a Doodle Poll where you can tell us your availability and preferred time to meet.  If you are a board member and you would like to join the southern board member regional meeting, please complete the Doodle Poll and we'll let you know the preferred date and time.

If you are from another region, and would like to see the same thing happen, please send us an email, and we'll create an opportunity..
