Dear Alumni, Parents and Friends,

As we near the winter break, it struck me just how much has happened in a very short time. Both Susan and I have been getting to know the Cornell Fencing team as they have been getting to know us. Thanks to our incredible alumni, we held an amazing Phonathon, allowing us to make much needed equipment additions and fund the travel that will make Cornell Fencing increasingly successful. Both the Penn Elite and the Brandeis Invitational were incredible successes and the women’s team currently holds a 9-2 record for the season. Most importantly, the team has been cohesive, supportive and enthusiastic at every practice and every meet. It never fails to amaze me how much dedication and work these collegiate athletes bring to bear every single day.

We have been lucky to see parents and alumni at each meet! Grace Ding’s family hosted the entire team for a spectacular meal in Boston, Megan Eno’s mom sent incredibly thoughtful towel “bears” to the team at Brandeis, Nina Farouk helped us pick up an enormous food order, Barbara Todd Heiner, Ruth Logan and many others came just to cheer and support the team. I hope to meet more of you over the coming months.
