NiRA collaborating with BPSR on Capacity Building for representatives of MDAs
As part of the efforts of the Federal Government of Nigeria at reforming the Public Service Delivery, the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) embarked on the ranking of websites of the Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) using a Websites' Assessment Score Card. The initiative highlights the government's commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses and investments to thrive in Nigeria.

AFRINIC-31
AFRINIC exists to expand the Internet for the sustainable development of Africa. One of the prominent ways in which AFRINIC implements this vision is through major events held around the continent to champion this debate. It is for this reason that AFRINIC hosted the 31st meeting, dubbed AFRINIC-31. The meeting took place at the Tatalona Convention Center, Luanda, Angola from 2nd - 6th December 2019.
Opening the event was Mr. Christian Bope, the AFRINIC Chairman who stressed the importance of embracing IPv6 as Africa seeks to join the rest of the world in advancing Internet connection in the face of IPv4 exhaustion. Mr. Bope introduced AFRINIC's new CEO Eddy Kayihura to the AFRINIC and African and global Internet community.

ALTON 20TH ANNIVERSARY, NIRA HONORED!

On Friday 29th November 2019, The Association of Licensed Telecom Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) celebrated its 20th anniversary. The event was a celebration of achievements and milestones in the telecom industry. The event which aimed to honour Industry leaders, founding leaders and stakeholders for their support and developmental role in the industry, was declared open by the Chairman of ALTON, Engr. Gbenga Adebayo.

7TH REGULAR MEETING OF THE NATIONAL COUNCIL ON COMMUNICATIONS AND DIGITAL ECONOMY

The 7th Meeting of the National Council on Communications and Digital Economy (NCCDE-07) held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House Gombe State from 2nd to 6th December 2019. The Honourable Minister, Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, FNCS, FBCS, FIIM in his remarks, urged participants to key into the implementation of the Digital Economy Policy and Strategy to enhance adoption in all the states of the Federation.

2019 E-NIGERIA
Industry leaders and stakeholders of the ICT community gathered at the 2019 edition of e-Nigeria which took place from 28th to 29th November 2019 at the International Conference Center Abuja with the theme “Achieving a National Digital Economy”
The conference, which is the 12th edition, is Nigeria’s annual Information Technology (IT) summit hosted by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

PRESIDENT’S SPEECH
On behalf of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), I say a big thank you to everyone reading our newsletters, engaging and collaborating with us and registering their businesses online with .ng domain names. We appreciate your support in projecting Nigerian businesses online, waving the Nigeria flag in cyberspace and moving the .ng brand forward. 

We are now in the yuletide season and it is time to take stock and send out good wishes. On behalf of the NiRA Executive Board of Directors and NiRA staff, our warmest regards, appreciation and good wishes to all,  the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), various NiRA Stakeholders, Members of NiRA, Affiliates, NiRA Board of Trustees, Service Providers and all the supporters of the .ng brand.
