Please listen to my podcast (now in Season 2)

Debbie on stage as the director of Island Women SpeakHello loyal reader,

Happy holidays! My sincere apologies for the long silence. Lots going on at this end, from podcast producing to women's storytelling to working with nonfiction writing clients to... yes, it's true! A continuing gap year life with my husband on an island in Maine.

I'd love to hear what you've been up to. As always, hit Reply, ask a question or tell me what's on your mind and I promise to respond.

Newest episode of the podcast: my five-minute story

In the most recent episode of the Gap Year For Grown-Ups podcast I tell a personal story about what happened, beginning at age 25, when my life didn’t go as planned. And how things look different when I connect the dots backward.

What the podcast is really about (reinvention, purpose, aging with wisdom, etc.)

As Season 2 began earlier this fall, I realized that the theme of the podcast is much broader than adult gap years. I'm on a mission to end the tyranny of learn / earn / retire as life's stages. The show is about taking a look at all the aspects of what’s next when you are in midlife and beyond. The term gap year is a frame for examining reinvention, finding a new purpose, aging with wisdom, trying new things, tackling bucket list travel, devising a new approach to health and well-being, and more.

A few of my favorite episodes so far:

LISTEN to Island Women Speak: Connection, Truth and Storytelling in Maine

LISTEN to On Our Bucket List: Debbie and Sam Live in France

LISTEN to Chip Conley on Growing Wise at Modern Elder Academy

LISTEN to Best-selling Author Marc Freedman on How to Live Forever (It's Not What You Think)

I’m asking you to do two things:

  1. Subscribe to my podcast (via iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify or Google Podcasts)
  2. If you enjoy the episodes, please leave a review on iTunes. It means so much!
The next episode, coming up Jan. 10th after a brief holiday break, is an interview with celebrity author and Silicon Valley legend Guy Kawasaki. Guy has been an unofficial mentor for the past 20 years, ever since I heard him speak at a small business conference in 1999. We talk about mahalo (gratitude), mixing politics and social media, why he’s always smiling and more.

I send you best wishes for a lovely holiday season wherever you are (warm or cold).

Yours in possibilities in 2020...

What my book coaching clients are saying...

Denise EdmondDebbie’s feedback is right-on and thought provoking. And she is more than a book coach. Her way of listening and questioning has also helped me more clearly define the next chapter of my life. It’s wonderful working with someone who has such a natural ability to co-create! - Denise Edmond,
Retired corporate executive in her 40s plotting her "what's next."
