NEW COMMISSIONERS JOIN BPAC

The Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission rings in the new year with three new members:
  • Patricia Schader lives in D7 and was active with BPAC during 2019. She is particularly interested in increasing attention to far east Oakland.
  • Grey Gardner resides in District 2.  He is the architect of WOBO's Slow Oakland Campaign and is a member of BPAC's Legislative Committee.
  • Diane Yee lives in D1, west Oakland. She has attended many BPAC meetings over the years including Infrastructure Committee meetings.
Come to the next BPAC meeting on January 16 to help welcome the new commissioners!  Details here.

SLOW OAKLAND HITS THE STREETS

Last month WOBO volunteers fanned out in the Grand Lake and Fruitvale areas to enlist support for the Slow Oakland campaign. The campaign aims to increase safety on Oakland streets by asking residents to pledge to drive slower.  Response to the campaign was very favorable and we're looking forward to more such efforts in 2020.
We're looking to get 500 pledges by the end of January.  Make your pledge here if you'd like to be part of this important work!

EAST OAKLAND FUTURES FESTIVAL COMING IN MARCH

WOBO is pleased to announce the first East Oakland Futures Festival on March 21, a community block party on 90th Avenue to celebrate the vibrant culture of East Oakland.  We'll be collaborating on this events with the City of Oakland Department of Transportation (OakDOT) and several neighborhood organizations including The East Oakland Collective and The Scraper Bike Team.
