Don't Miss Any Services - Renew Your Membership Today

Membership renewal invoices have been sent

From the NMBA Board of Directors’ annual trip to Washington, DC to speak to the US delegation on behalf of all stations across the state, and the upcoming State Basketball Tournament, to the NMBA awards and convention and free sales webinars designed specifically for New Mexico sellers; the NMBA would like to remind our members that these benefits and more are included in your annual membership. And it’s time to renew your membership for 2020.

The NMBA has sent out membership reminders to broadcast stations across the state this month. If you have not received a membership renewal notice, we may have an inaccurate mailing or email address for your station.

Please take a moment to download the appropriate renewal form from our website, complete the form and mail it with your dues to NMBA, 2333 Wisconsin St., NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. If you prefer to pay by credit card, please contact our office at 881-4444 in Albuquerque or statewide toll-free at 1-800-622-2414.

Thank you for your valued membership. We look forward to working with you again in 2020.

Political Broadcasting 2020: A Refresher Course

January 16 at 1:00pm MT

On January 16, 2020, Fletcher Heald & Hildreth, PLC will present a refresher webinar on the FCC’s political broadcasting rules. As we begin what will certainly be a very contentious (and hopefully lucrative) election year, this is a good time to brush up on the requirements the FCC places on stations in relation to political advertising.

The webinar will cover…
  • What advertisements are entitled to lowest unit charge (“LUC”) rates?
  • How is LUC calculated?
  • What are equal opportunities requirements?
  • What oversight does the FCC have over online political ads?
  • What different rules apply to ads purchased by third parties (i.e. PACs)?
  • What different rules apply to issue ads as opposed to candidate ads?
  • What are the FCC’s public file rules for political ads?

Q1 Virtual Job Fair January 20-24, 2020

A great opportunity to hire talented New Mexicans!

The Q1 virtual job fair will be held in 2 weeks and several station groups have already registered. If your station is currently seeking applicants for any position at your station, this offers a unique opportunity to recruit from candidates from across the state and earn EEO credit that is required by the FCC.

The virtual job fair is especially advantageous to stations that participate fully, including playing  and maintaining proof of performance of promotional spots played during the job fair, as well as screenshots of websites and social media posts regarding the event. At the end of the week, the NMBA provides each station group with a letter of participation that includes any current job postings. This can earn a station 1 EEO credit for their participation.

Any station that is still interested in participating, please contact Suzan Strong at the NMBA today. For those of you already planning on participating, we encourage you to play promotional spots and keep a record of all promotional outreach regarding the job fair in order to fully benefit from the program.
