"...Personal development means each aspect of life expands to be itself, while alteration means that a thing is ‘changed’ from one thing into another. Paul was ‘changed’ (Greek word ‘metanoia’) from one way of life to a completely new spiritual awareness, physical, emotional, psychological and faith formation; a direction different from that to which he was previously defending – Judaism. As such, I would constantly use the theological term ‘redemption’ to describe what God is doing in our diocese.

Bishop's Institute Launched: The Diocese of Easton launched the Bishop's Institute and Center for Creative Ministry at a Celebration Eucharist at St. Paul's Hebron on January 4th. Convention 2020 Registration is Now Open: Join us for the 152nd Annual Convention of the Diocese of Easton "Becoming Better Disciples of Jesus" scheduled for March 7th at Christ Church Kent Island. Snow Date – Saturday, March 14, 2020. Registrations must be submitted online no later than February 13, 2020. Read More & Register.
Youth Delegates Invited to Convention: High School students are invited to join us at Convention 2020 as delegates to Convention. This year's class will have seat and voice and will craft a resolution for vote to be submitted for 2021. Names and emails of interested students need to be submitted to Joanne Fisher via email no later than February 15th. Youth delegates are sponsored by the Diocese.
Episcopal Youth Event 2020 (EYE2020): The Episcopal Youth Event is a gathering of over 2.000 young Episcopalians that happens only once in a triennial! The event is open to all current high school students. Visit our website for more info and to register - early registration closes on February 15th. Space is limited.
Invitation to submit pictures of the image of God The Diversity Awareness Commission invites everyone to pause, take in, and reflect on the image of God and to celebrate the diversity of creation. Diocesan Fund for Church Initiatives Grant Program Small Grants Available in 2020 for Parishes. Applications are now being accepted for the Diocese of Easton’s Church Initiatives Grant Program. Money is available exclusively to parishes and mission churches in the Diocese of Easton to undertake innovative programs and projects. The Grant Program is funded by investment returns from the Diocese’s St. Stephens Endowment Fund, a fund created with proceeds from the sale of St. Stephen's Church, East New Market several years ago. This is the eighth year of the program’s existence. Last year one grant was awarded to Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Chester parish to bring the “Undoing Racism” workshop to Kent County as part of an interfaith and diverse community effort. United Thank Offering 2020 Annual Grants Application deadline is March 6, 2020. These grants are awarded for projects in The Episcopal Church and throughout the Anglican Communion, each year with a different focus. For 2020, the focus is Bless: Share faith, practice generosity and compassion, and proclaim the Good News of God in Christ with hope and humility. More info here.

St. Peter's, Salisbury - SPIRITUALITY OF ADDICTION AND RECOVERY St. Peter’s is sponsoring a three part series Tuesday evenings at 7:15 pm in January and February on the topic "Conversations on the Spirituality of Addiction and Recovery,” and parishioners are encouraged to attend. Organized by S.P.A.C.E., St. Peter’s Adult Christian Education Committee, the series features three guest speakers:
January 21: Nancy Mitchell, winner of the national Pushcart Prize in poetry, author of three books, and the first Poet Laureate of the City of Salisbury. Nancy taught for many years at Salisbury University and has spoken and written about the impact of addiction.
February 4: Dr. Jerry Miller, professor emeritus of philosophy from Salisbury University. Nationally known for his studies in spirituality and religion, Miller, now retired, was a popular teacher, and is an award-winning author in his field who has edited and written essays about 12 Step programs. The title of his presentation is "From a Clenched Fist to an Open Heart."
February 18: Bruce Stazza, an Episcopalian and Easton musician and the Alive @ 5 Worship Leader at Christ Episcopal Church in Easton He has impacted the lives of many pursuing a life of recovery.
The "Conversations" will take place in the Parish Hall. Admission is free and the public is invited.
Christ Church, Easton - You Are Invited to Join the Mid-Shore Maryland Chapter of the American Guild of Organists on January 27th at 7 pm, for its 5th Annual Banquet and Concert featuring Organist, Michael Britt. The cost of the Banquet is $40 and will feature hors-d’oeuvres, main course and dessert. A social time will begin at 6 pm in the Christ Church Parish Hall with dinner being served at 6:30 pm. The concert will begin in the church at 7:30 pm, where Michael Britt will then entertain us with a program of music focusing on the organ in popular culture. Britt, known for his silent film accompaniments as well as his work at Brown Memorial Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, is a widely received organist whose concert is not to be missed! To make a reservation, please contact weslockfaw@christchurcheaston.org by January 20th. For those who are unable to join us for dinner but would like to attend the concert, doors open at 7 pm.
Trinity Cathedral, Easton is looking to donate cream colored dishes with gold rims, all matching, to another Episcopal Church. The dishes will be packed in sets of 12 place settings. They will be offered first to diocesan parishes, then to the public. If interested, please contact Maggie Trice @ 410-822-1931.
Episcopal Carmel of St. Teresa On December 2, 2019, the Commission on Ministry & St. Paul's Berlin hosted Sister Teresa Irene and Sister Barbara from the Episcopal Carmel of St. Teresa for an interesting and delightful talk on their personal journeys to become Carmelite nuns, and the opportunities for prayer and retreat that they offer others at their monastery in Rising Sun, Maryland. EYE20 registration now open for diocesan delegations. Registration is now open for diocesan delegations for the 2020 Episcopal Youth Event (EYE20), which will be held at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD), Diocese of Washington, July 7-11, 2020. Read more here.
Registration for EYE20 is being offered to provincial, diocesan, congregational, and other Episcopal organizational delegations as long as all EYE20 participation and chaperone criteria are met. However, in keeping with the spirit of General Convention Resolution 1982-D079, which encourages dioceses to support and participate in EYE, registration preference is given to diocesan delegations with an early registration window.
Registration for Open Delegations, bishops, staff and guests will open on January 27, 2020 at 9 am Eastern.

Updated Manual of Business Methods in Church Affairs now available The Canons of The Episcopal Church set forth the general responsibility and accountability for the stewardship of the Church’s money and property.
