President's Message
Another busy month has passed us by. Hope your Halloween was filled with treats, and not too many tricks! October is always the busiest month of the year for the Houston Peach Branch. For 46 years we have been working to put on the best used book sale around. Many of you are aware that the Friends of the Library in both Bibb and Houston Counties also have sales, but we were there first, and, as you well know, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. It is now Thanksgiving, and we have a great deal to be thankful for. We have a wonderful program dealing with S.T.E.M. in November and a great Holiday Party planned for December. Some of our members will be participating in the Alzheimer’s Walk, while others will be supporting these Women on the Move financially. Please make an effort to be part of these events.
Thank you all for the wonderful things you do every day. I look forward to seeing you soon.
Marlene
November Program
Margaret Molyson grew up in New Orleans where she attended college and graduated from LSU with a BS in Secondary Science Education and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Later, Mrs. Molyson earned her Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from Columbus State. Mrs. Molyson has been with the Houston County school system since 1992, and has represented the county on several state committees for the Georgia High School Graduation Test, the End of Course Tests and the state Science Education Advisory Committee. She was named the Region 6 Star Teacher in 2008 and Houston County Teacher of the Year in 2011.
Book Sale
Margaret and Carrie deserve a lot of recognization for their hard work planning and preparing for this book sale. The unofficial proceeds from the annual book sale were just shy of $5000! We also had ten or more members working each day of sale. This proves that our branch is made up of wonderful women who enjoy servnig the community in which they live.
December Program
Just a friendly reminder that next month we not be having the annual holiday party. The party will be a catered dinner party at the home of Lois Wills.
