Dear EGRMS Families,

This week, we have the honor of celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a series of events at school. Students began studying aspects of the Civil Rights Movement during BRIDGES class last week that will continue this week Thursday, leading up to our events scheduled for Friday, January 17. 

On Friday, all students will take part in several events throughout the day to honor Dr. King. All students will watch the I Have a Dream speech in their BRIDGES class before participating in a Silent March to the gymnasium for our all school assembly. Along with a keynote address, students will hear songs and poetry recognizing the message of Dr. King. At the conclusion of the assembly, students will work on a culminating project in their BRIDGES class to wrap up the day. 

Thank you for supporting the administration of these events by keeping your child in school for the full day - it should be an impactful day for all of us.

Yule Ball 2020

Calling all witches and wizards in grades 3-8:
The 7th annual EGRPS Interscholastic Yule Ball is coming up on Saturday, February 1st. Festivities will run from 6:00-9:00 pm at EGR High School. Look forward to a magical night of Harry Potter fun including returning favorites and new surprises. Please register your EGRPS students in grades 3-8 here: Yule Ball 2020 Registration.

Grade 6 Robotics Mondays

Students are issued “Way to Go” cards for demonstrating Respect, Responsibility or Personal Best by doing the right thing!  As students receive these cards, they are placed in the container located in the Main Office. Every Friday, names are drawn and announced during the afternoon announcements.  Each student selected, has the opportunity to pick a prize from the prize basket simply as a way to say “Thanks, we appreciate and recognize you!”

Save the date of March 28 to Recharge! at this year’s East Grand Rapids Schools Foundation spring fundraising event.

For the last two years, the event was called Sip and Support and was held at the East Grand Rapids Community Center. Over the ten years before that, it was called Hurrah! and was held at a variety of venues around the Grand Rapids area. 

This year’s Recharge! event will be at Clearwater Place in downtown Grand Rapids on Saturday, March 28. The event will offer great food, terrific drinks, live music and a few surprises. If past year’s get-togethers are any indication, a good time will be had by all. 

Tickets to Recharge! will be available in March on the East Grand Rapids Schools Foundation’s website at egrsf.org.
