Working together for a healthy,
connected catchment.
Happy New Year to our members, volunteers and supporters!
Many of you are seeking ways to help our struggling wildlife, especially in light of the pressures from the recent fires and drought. The situation can make you feel quite powerless and it highlights the importance of all ecosystems.
Joining your local bushcare group is a great hands-on way to help grow and care for your local habitat and community. If you don't know which group is closest to you, simply reply to this email and let us know which suburb you're in. We'll then give you some options. Or check out Habitat Brisbane's bushcare group list here. Most groups typically meet for a couple of hours once a month on a Saturday or Sunday, but some more regularly and on some weekdays (and you can join as many groups as you like). You don't need to attend each working bee, just when you can. And no experience is necessary. Bushcare is often followed by a cuppa and chat (and sometimes cake!).

We encourage you to have your say!

DES COSGROVE
In December 2019, Des Cosgrove from Wishart Outlook Bushcare Group at Eight Mile Plains died at the age of 89.
Des was the inaugural leader of the bushcare group in 2001. His love of native plants extended to propagating for the group, teaching people about plants, and organising the group for over 15 years. Des was a true gentleman, always willing to listen and lend a hand wherever possible. He will be truly missed by all who were touched by his humour and love of life.
