The Medford-Alba Sister City Association, the Medford Chamber of Commerce, Travel Medford, and the City of Medford would like our wine producers to join us in celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Sister City program with Alba, Italy!
The 60th anniversary celebration in Alba will be held in conjunction with their 44th annual Vinum wine tasting event showcasing the wines of the Alba region. It will be held for three weekends in April and May, 2020. (April 25-26, May 1-3, and May 9-10) https://www.vinumalba.com/en/
When the Sister City program started in 1960, southern Oregon was not known for wine. Now our wine producers have been invited to showcase our area’s wines at one the largest wine events in Europe!
We have 4 possibilities for participation:
- An information booth about wines of the Medford Area
- Conduct scheduled wine tastings
- Participate in master classes
- OR combination of all of these options
Additional details:
- Participation in the Vinum event for Medford producers would be free of charge.
- We are researching the option to have Alba’s wine school students help us with translation for visitors at our booth.
- Vinum would provide glasses if we participate in the scheduled wine tastings.
- For scheduled wine tastings, we would need approximately 250-300 bottles per weekend. This could be shared by more than one wine producer.
- We will need a sommelier if we participate in the scheduled wine tastings. Vinum will provide one if we do not have one available from Medford.
- There may be an opportunity for a scholarship to help offset one wine producer’s cost to fly to Alba.
- We are still figuring out lodging information, but expect that families in Alba will likely host our wine producers.
- The Alba 60th celebrations will be April 23-26. There will be a delegation from Medford going, so we would target this weekend for participation if we don’t have enough interested wine producers to go for all three weekends.
