Goodbye 2019 & Hello 2020!

Our Year in Review

Over the past year we have;

Provided financial assistance for vet care and supplies.

We also provided in home behavioural support at no cost to a client and her cat.

We started a new program and rescue called Super Senior Cat Sanctuary and took in two cats. Marvin will be available for adoption in the new year and Sam will remain as a long term foster.

We also helped find a placement for another cat at risk of euthanasia. 

Attended Pawlooza and hosted our 6th annual yard sale.

Signed up for new ways to make giving easier on Patreon and FlipGive.

Attended two conferences and one workshop to broaden our knowledge of animal welfare, poverty and mental health.
 

Looking Ahead at the Upcoming Year

We have a few goals for this upcoming year!

1. Start the process for charitable status so that we will be able to access more grants and funding opportunities 

2. Communicate with cities across Ontario to find out what the situation is for pet friendly public transit and pet food at food banks. (These were important topics found in our Pets & Poverty research study in 2018). 

3. Pilot a temporary foster care program in the Hamilton/Burlington area (the city we get the most requests from and where there is no other existing program). 

4. Find a loving adoptive home for Marvin, one of the first residents of Super Senior Cat Sanctuary. (Black kitty pictured above in the header)

5. Continue to provide referral, financial assistance and behavioural consultations to people experiencing poverty and precocity with their pets. 

6. Host a new event this spring to help us raise much needed funds.

7. Recruit more volunteers and find a dedicated volunteer coordinator to help.
