Tomorrow's WinterWest Cancelled

There just isn't enough snow on the ground for tomorrow's WinterWest activities, so we've made the decision to cancel the event. Sorry we won't get to see those sleds, but hope you save them for the next snowy day and join us for one of our upcoming outdoor adventures.

Neighborhood Feedback Session

Jan. 15 at Garfield Park Neighborhood Asso.

The Mayor's Greening Initiative is coming to the Garfield Park neighborhood on April 25! We, along with the city's Forestry Department and the Garfield Park Neighborhoods Association, are hosting a feedback session to answer residents' questions and hear ideas. Learn more!

Snowshoe at Ah-Nab-Awen Park

Jan. 19 (2-3 p.m.) and Jan. 28 (6-7 p.m.)

Snowshoe with our director Stephanie at a beautiful riverside park. These two hikes are offered as part of DGRI's month-long World of Winter festival, which takes advantage of Michigan’s cold climate and provides fun ways for people to enjoy the season outdoors.

Family Day with Junior League

Jan. 25 at Indian Trails Golf Course

Join Friends, Junior League of GR and the Parks and Recreation Dept. for a day of free fun on the trails. Junior League helped us purchase the snowshoes that make appearances throughout the city, and we want to celebrate together! Read more about Family Fun Day

Our third annual Love Your Park fundraising breakfast will be held again on Feb. 14, 2020! At this event we celebrate the work Friends is doing for GR parks, trees and green spaces, where we've been, and what's to come in the next year. If you're interested in hosting a table for this fundraising breakfast, THANK YOU! Email kinsey@friendsofgrparks.org.
