COLDER MORNINGS HEADED TO SOUTHCENTRAL
KTVA - The cold that has gripped Southcentral to start of 2020 shows no signs of letting up in the coming days. As a rather large upper level low continues to sit atop the Alaska Range, the cold will continue to filter into the region. Morning lows fell well-below zero for most of Southcentral, with temperatures struggling to rebound through the day. It'll feel even colder though, as winds will have wind chill readings hovering anywhere form -20 to -10 degrees.

ALASKA'S 2019 FISHERIES BRING NEW RECORDS- NEW CONCERNS
KTUU -  Alaska's fisheries in 2019 had several bright spots, yet many areas of concern will return into the next year.
Once again the sockeye fishery in Bristol Bay was the shining star of the commercial sector. Fishermen caught Bristol Bay's 2 billionth sockeye salmon since records were first kept. The in-shore run of 57 million fish clocked in at the fourth-largest run on the record books, but the ex-vessel value of $306 million ranks as the best of all time.

WATCH FOR MOOSE ON ROADS

With the snow getting deeper, more moose are taking to the roads. According to AK Fish & Game, Alaska has one of the highest rates of moose-vehicle collisions in the world. Roads often cut through an animal’s home range or travel corridor, creating a safety hazard for both people and wildlife. The situation is exacerbated in winter months when it is difficult for drivers to see. In addition, deep snow can push wildlife into oncoming traffic.
