Ice Climbing in Any Weather
In the winter, Base Camp in Milton is the only place in the greater Boston Area that has Ice Climbing. In this exhilarating activity, you will have ice boots, crampons and ice axes at your disposal to accomplish one objective- climbing a sheet of ice.
However, sometimes Mother Nature isn’t as cooperative as we’d like. Last year we made two adjustments to compensate and GUARANTEE a great ice climbing experience.
First, we developed and installed a new midnight ice-making system that sprays a gentle mist on the rock whenever the temperature dips below 30 degrees. This new system wastes less water and builds maximum ice face in the shortest time. So as long as its cold at night, our patented Jack Frost is hard at work creating your ice climbing experience. With this improvement, last year we provided ice climbing every weekend!
We also added two faux ice climbing experiences with our COPE course. On a sunny day, you can climb using the same tools at a 70 degree angle or at 85 degrees. For this ice climbing experience, those are the only degrees that matter!
Whatever the winter weather, your troop, crew or family can use Base Camp for the best Ice Climbing in Massachusetts, Guaranteed!
