BAPTISM OF OUR LORD
In the waters of the Jordan, Jesus is revealed as the beloved Son of God. Through this great epiphany, Jesus fulfills all righteousness and becomes the servant of God who will bring forth justice and be a light to the nations. In the waters of baptism we too are washed by the Word, anointed by the Spirit, and named God’s beloved children. Our baptismal mission is to proclaim good news to all who are oppressed or in need of God’s healing. (Sundays and Seasons)

GUEST PREACHER NEXT SUNDAY, JAN 19
Join us on January 19 when we will have a guest preacher, Vince Solomon, from Epiphany Indigenous Congregation.  Click the above for a Youtube video of Vince speaking about the development and creation of the Epiphany Indigenous Congregation.
A Message From Social Ministry Comittee:  A new initiative has been proposed between St. Marks Lutheran and Epiphany Aboriginal Anglican church and as part of this, we have asked Vince to include mention of some of the ministries at his church. This includes a programme called Music for Life which helps provide musical instruments and instruction for youngsters in remote communities. This initiative aims to help counteract suicide and other issues facing young people.  Another ministry involves a counselling service for individuals or families in crisis.  We feel very strongly that some partnership with Epiphany would be a good step for St. Marks to take at this time.  Please make Pastor Vince welcome on the 19th and feel free to contact the committee if you have questions.

REMINDER ABOUT OUR NEW OFFERING ENVELOPES
  •  for everyone who is on PAD giving (automatic Withdrawals from you Bank Account), there are no longer individual envelopes for the "Special weeks" such as Lenten services, Thanksgiving or Christmas services.  If you are attending a service, and did not bring an envelope from home, don't worry - there are plenty of blank ones in the pews.
  • there is no longer a date on the envelopes, which means that they can be used for any Sunday.  Your giving can be tracked by the envelope number (1 - 400), or by your name.   It is helpful if you would put a date on your Giving Envelope.
In future, when you use a pew envelope, please make sure that either your Name, your Giving Envelope number (if you remember), and the Date is on the envelope. This will make it much easier for  the Counters and the staff credit your charitable giving for the year.
