Are You Going?
January 30, 2020 will be a big day in Madison as citizen advocates from around the state gather to lobby their legislators for clean and healthy water!
Water Lobby Day participants in 2018
It’s an afternoon for citizens, not just industry lobbyists, to call attention to water issues affecting all of us. It’s also a time for making acquaintances and working with concerned folks from the entire state on our common issues.
This is simple, painless, and (even) fun. We gather at the Madison Concourse Hotel, 1 W Dayton Street, Madison, WI 53703, (12:30pm-5:00pm), get some lessons on issues and how to talk with legislators and their staff, and then head to the Capitol with others in our districts to meet in legislative offices. Head back to the Concourse for information sharing and a social hour.
This year is especially critical. This is the Year of Clean Drinking Water. The legislative Water Quality Task Force is due to release its findings, PFAS pollution is a new concern, and we finally have some attention on nitrate. Also let’s not forget the Central Sands Lakes Study needs to be prodded along. In these times of record rainfall it’s easy to imagine legislators “forgetting” about the pumping issue.
