About the Poet: Jessica Outram

Jessica Outram is the Poet Laureate of Cobourg and the host of this publication, "Poetry Present." Since September 2019 we have been building connections within our community of poetry writers and readers who share a love of Cobourg, Northumberland, and surrounding area. I've loved getting to know you through your work and your bios.

Thank-you to everyone who contributed and participated in this project. Today we launch our 2020 poems and I hope to continue with this project for as long as you send in your poetry. Poets are welcome to contribute more than once. You will only see my poetry here once a year for the first poem in January. We are still in need of poems for 2020.

This poem is inspired by a quote of TS Eliot's that a friend recently shared: "For last year's words belong to last year's language and next year's words await another voice." Happy New Year!!
