IT'S A REAL BOOK!

I feel a bit like Pinocchio!

My book has moved from concept, to planning, to a REAL BOOK!

Say it with me in that high pitched nasally voice, “I’m a real book!”.

“How do I know this?” you ask. I received the Advance Reader Copy or in publishing lingo, an ARC, of How Long Is Forever?. It has a wonderful hard cover that makes noise if you tap on it. Which I have done – it’s the equivalent of pinching to make sure something is real. It also has a glossy jacket, beautiful end pages, my words, and Qing’s glorious illustrations – the whole book is there and it’s real!

My publisher has sent this ARC to some lucky industry professionals to give them a sneak peek and hopefully encourage a glowing review (like the one from Kirkus below!). If your local and you want to trade a sneak peek for an offer to review the book on Goodreads, I’d be happy to share!

Our last story time booked (for now), Kelly, is and isn't a new face. Kelly was one of the very first people to come to the store, and she has been a fixture at our story time events, but this will be the first time she gets to take center stage. I'm so excited for Kelly, who is seriously one of the nicest people around.

What I'm Reading

For Elementary School Kids

Home In The Woods uses gentle lyrical language and stunning artwork to teach the stark realities of poverty during the Great Depression. But don’t worry – the book is so wonderful neither you nor your little readers will realize they are learning! Just enjoy the book and the learning is a little extra treat.

For Middle Schoolers

In The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise Coyote and Rodeo encounter fellow travelers, and Coyote starts to wonder if they really are healing and if maybe their aimless wandering needs a destination. You’ll be cheering for quirky Coyote Sunrise and her truly remarkable journey!

For Young Adults

With The Fire On High offers plenty of spice in the form of main character Emoni Santiago who has a love for food and a knack for creating culinary excellence. But Emoni has lost her mother, her father is absent and she is navigating her senior year of high school while caring for her daughter. You’ll want to help Emoni, cry for Emoni, and be Emoni – or at the very least eat her food!

For Adults

With my proximity to the Newport Mansions and a daughter at Vanderbilt, this was an easy book for me to grab. What I didn’t realize was how much it would grab me! If you are a fan of Downtown Abby and Jane Austen, read A Well-Behaved Woman: A Novel of the Vanderbilts. It is at times decadent and silly, but always interesting and fascinating.
