Last Week To Make Comments on Lake Powell Pipeline Assessment Scoping

The New Year starts with an critically important week for the Lake Powell Pipeline project review by the Federal Bureau of Reclamation.   Two important events this week:

First,  public comments on the scope of the federal environmental review are due January 10.  Please take a few minutes to go to the NCH and LPP Scoping Comment Webpage for directions to write and submit your comment, or read on for a little more background.

Second, the Bureau of Reclamation is holding 3 informational meetings on the Pipeline, 6-8 PM
          January 7, Kanab Center, 20 N 100 E, Kanab
January 8, Dixie Center, 1835 S Convention Ctr Dr., St. George
          January 9, Valley High, 325 W 11000 S, South Jordan

We encourage you to attend one of these sessions both to learn more about the process and make your opinion known.

Thanks for your attention to this!

The Lake Powell Pipeline Review Process has 3 steps: (1) determining the scope of the Environmental Impact Statement, (2) the analysis of the items identified in the scope, and then (3) the final decision (approval or disapproval).  The federal agencies are now in the first step, and as required, they are asking the public to submit “Scoping Comments” to determine what should be considered in the scope of the analyses.

Your comments will increase the chance that the right issues are analyzed.

Historically there is a 90-day process that encourages public input. For this review process, public involvement is being suppressed by only allowing 30 days.  The Lake Powell Pipeline has gone through other approval attempts that have failed due largely to your efforts.  Let’s keep it up.

For the Lake Powell Pipeline the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) is now leading the process.  Comments are due by January 10.

How to Write and Submit Your Scoping Comment

We have defined a fairly quick and easy process for you to help you write and submit your comments.
Go to the  NCH and LPP Scoping Comment Webpage

Your comments are essential, making all the difference for a complete evaluation of the Lake Powell Pipeline
