Dear <<First Name>>,

The PMN Winter Convergence takes place at two venues in NYC (Midtown Manhattan & East Harlem) from January 24-26, 2020.  It features: a plenary session with diverse perspectives on the role of the artist in times of crisis (more below) as well as workshop tracks on 1) Resources for Activist Choruses 2) Hip Hop as a Tool for Liberation and 3) Nueva Cancion in the Global Struggle.

On Saturday, there will be a special Youth Creative Convergence, designed specifically for children and teens.  There will be child care throughout the weekend.  We will host multiple songs swaps and highlight a wide range of ways that people are making music a central part of today's movements to confront the evils of militarism, racism, and capitalism.  The mind-numbing insanity of our country possibly going to war with Iran is a sign of how bad things have gotten.  The People's Music Network will respond as we always have: singing with truth and love in the face of a broken system that cannot understand.

If you are looking for a supportive community of artists dedicated to using their art for peace and justice, the PMN Winter Convergence will leave you feeling spiritually nourished and artistically inspired!  There are numerous opportunities to learn new skills, make new contacts, share music, and experience the spontaneity of a community that knows how to sing together.  Low-income rates, scholarships, and financial aid are available!  Spread the word and get involved!

*** Register for PMN by Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at 11:59 PM to receive a $10 discount. ***

Plenary Session: "The Role of the Artist in Times of Crisis

Saturday, January 25, 2020, 3:50-4:50pm
Multi-Purpose Room (1st Floor)
Central Park East II School
433 East 100th Street, New York, NY 10029

The  plenary session at the 2020 PMN Winter Convergence features a panel discussion on “The Role of the Artist in Times of Crisis”.  Panelists will share their own perspectives on how they are using music in service of front-line peace and social justice movements.  In a time when the government and media serve to divide and distract the population as a whole, these activists will share the strategies, challenges and successes they face as cultural workers seeking fundamental social change.  The panel will serve an overall goal for the entire weekend-long PMN convergence: to bring diverse artists and activists together to celebrate our craft and to collaborate in using that craft in struggles for a more just, peaceful and ecologically sane world.
