Happy New Year

To Friends of the Ballard P-Patch!
As we look forward to 2020, a big year for our garden and our campaign, we want to share a few updates with you.

We are so grateful for your support of the garden. As of Jan 1, our Mighty-Cause & offline donations totaled $56,897. We were also thrilled and delighted to be the beneficiary of a $25,000 donation from the Cooper-Newell Family Foundation.

We are excited to have been selected as one of the projects that GroundSwell NW will be supporting in 2020. We will be present at their annual meeting on January 29, and would love to see you there too.

The Ballard Garden Gnomes were present at the swearing-in Ceremony for Andrew Lewis (Seattle City Council for District 7) on Dec. 30. Andrew held his swearing in at the endangered UpGarden P-Patch. He surprised us all by announcing that he’d worked with the Mayor’s office, and the eviction notice for the UpGarden had been rescinded. Great news for one of our fellow P-Patches.

The Ballard Gnomes attended a town-hall meeting at the Nordic Museum on Dec. 15 where our state representatives spoke of their priorities and issues. Presenting were: representatives Gael Tarleton, Noel Frame and State Senator Reuven Carlyle.

We’ll also be attending the official swearing in of all the new City Council members on Monday, Jan. 6 at 2pm. We look forward to working closely with our City Council member, Dan Strauss.

Stay tuned for more updates, as we kick our fundraising and grant-writing process into high gear. Please follow up on our facebook page for event updates and news ‘as it happens’.

Thank you all for your support – 2020 is going to be an exciting year!
