Principal MatthewsPrincipal's Message

Welcome back to regular scheduling, LAA family! Our Christmas families were in shock due to all the groceries they received. We gathered enough to give each family 16 bags of groceries and a $50 gift card as well. Thank you so much to everyone who helped make that happen—parents, relatives and students! Two families were made very happy this Christmas!

Two annual events, Acrofest and the Andrews Newmyer Classic Basketball Tournament, are approaching soon. Parents of students in our upper grades need to be alert for information regarding those trips.

Please make sure your darlings are getting plenty of rest, dressing warmly, and eating those veggies. January and February are tough months on the students! (Moms and Dads too!)

Enjoy the week and welcome back!
-David Matthews

All middle or high-school students planning to go on the Acrofest trip to Highland Academy on January 30-Feb. 2 must have their permission slips in ASAP. (Permission slips were sent home before break. If you need another copy, come by the school office.) Payments are due by January 22.
Jr./Sr. Benefit – Change of Plans!
LAA’s annual Junior/Senior Benefit is a much-anticipated event that showcases our high-school drama team. Due to multiple factors, the event will be a bit different this year and will not be on February 16, as originally scheduled. Stay tuned for more details!
Newmeyer Classic Basketball Tourney
Our varsity basketball team will be traveling to Andrews University for the Newmyer Classic Basketball Tournament, January 29- February 2. Permission slips and payment are due soon.
ParentsWeb for Grades
Did you know that you can monitor your student's grades and homework completion on a daily basis? You can go online or on an app on your smartphone and view grades for each assignment or test, as well as your student’s report cards and attendance. To login or see instructions on how to create your account, go to our website here.

Healthy Food Purchases can help LAA!
When you shop at Kroger, Kroger will donate a percentage of your purchase to LAA! For the fourth quarter of 2019, LAA received $163 from Kroger, based on 42 families who are currently registered to have LAA as their preferred recipient. Please take five minutes, pull out your Kroger Plus card, go online to krogercommunityrewards.com and register so your grocery purchases can help your school! We can really increase the amount we receive merely by getting more families registered!
College Visit
As part of LAA’s ongoing goal of encouraging our students to pursue higher education, we are pleased to be hosting a representative of Southern Adventist University this Friday at 10 am to visit with our juniors and seniors.
Your New Year's Resolution shopping can make money for LAA!!
Did you know that your purchases through Amazon can generate money for LAA? It is super simple! To participate, simply go to smile.amazon.com each time you make an Amazon.com purchase (instead of going to just amazon.com). The first time you visit, you will be prompted to select a charity – choose us!
Tuition Payments
Remember that the tuition is due by the 20th of each month and is considered late after that date. If your payment is not received on time, your account will be delinquent and your child is subject to suspension. If you have any questions, you may contact Arden Hagele at 813-310-3839 or at treasurer.laa@gmail.com. You can also pay online by going to the school website here and clicking on Payments.
