The U.S. Census Bureau is ramping up its national recruiting efforts to hire up to 500,000 temporary, part-time census takers for the 2020 Census in communities across the country.
The positions offer competitive pay, flexible hours, paid training, and weekly paychecks. For example, the hourly pay for Denver is around $20/hr. To determine the pay rate in a specific area, learn more about these positions, or apply for one of the temporary jobs, visit 2020census.gov/jobs.
What is the 2020 Census?
The 2020 Census is a count of every person living in the U.S. & the 5 U.S. territories, which will help inform how billions of dollars are distributed to states & communities every year for the next 10 years.
When does the 2020 Census begin?
You will receive an invitation by regular mail to fill out the 2020 Census online or by phone.
Why is the 2020 Census important?
The 2020 Census will inform decisions about funding for roads, transportation, education, it will determine how many congressional representatives each state gets, determines emergency services in our community for the next 10 years and beyond, and in health care, it will inform decisions about funding for critical insurance programs.

DDPHE encourages residents to test their homes for radon, a cancer-causing and naturally-occurring gas.

Take your car keys with you!
Over the past few weeks, officers on patrol in District 11 have reported an increase of unattended vehicles parked with the keys still in the ignition. DPD does not want you to become a victim of auto theft.
Protect your vehicle by:
1. Taking your keys out of your vehicle.
2. Always locking your vehicle.
3. Rolling up the windows.
4. Do not leave belongings in your vehicle.
5. Parking in well-lit areas.
6. Using a steering wheel lock.

Car and license plate theft continues to be an ongoing issue. DPD District 5 is giving away FREE clubs for your vehicle. But you must be a District 5 resident, bring your proof of vehicle registration and own one of the top 10 vehicles that are highly targeted for auto thefts from the list below:

What is the neighborhood watch?
- It is a volunteer program organized by concerned citizens to reduce crime in their community.
- It is one of the most effective and least costly ways to prevent crime.
- It helps form a partnership between the community and Denver Police department.
- Its main goal is for residents to gain a sense of ownership in making their community a safer place, since neighbors can build their community into a safer, friendlier and more caring place to live.
Who can be involved?
Everyone! The community, renters, homeowners, even dogs as Pups on Patrol.
What can you do?
- Know your neighbors and watch out for each other.
- Report suspicious behavior or activity.
- Share information.
- Be alert.
What NOT to do?
- Do not do vigilante work.
- No armed patrols.
- Do not put yourself in harm’s way or confront a suspect (be a good witness).
What is suspicious activity?
- An abandoned vehicle parked on your block.
- Persons carrying unwrapped packages down the street.
- Occupied vehicles parked in the neighborhood for an abnormal amount of time.
- Person going door to door in a residential area.
- Person walking around or peering into vehicles.
- Persons driving slowly through the neighborhood.
