A Message from
Councilwoman Gilmore

We’re happy to announce that the much-anticipated opening of Natural Grocers at the corner of Green Valley Ranch Blvd. and Tower Rd. will be early spring 2020! The company has also started hiring for different positions at this location, so make sure to check out their jobs website or share this with your family and friends.

We are also very excited to see and hear you at our District 11, 5th Annual Visioning Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, February 20th from 6:00 - 8:00pm at the Montbello Campus Cafeteria. We will have mental health resources, recycling and composting resources, and city agencies as part of our Town Hall resource fair.

And don’t forget that the 2020 Census will begin this spring. The Census is a count of every person living in the U.S. and it’s with this important information that billions of dollars in federal funding will be assigned to hospitals, fire departments, schools, roads and more. Go here to learn more or watch the video below.

As you know, customer service is our top priority. Please feel free to reach out to me at Stacie.Gilmore@denvergov.org or call our District 11 Council Office at 720-337-7711.

Sincerely,

2020 Census: What is the Census?

Highlighting our Community

Infrastructure Updates

Peoria Street multi-modal improvements

In the image above, you can see a design that was shown as an example of the designs proposed for intersections and driveways throughout Peoria St. in District 11. The design was presented to the community at the second public meeting held on January 25, 2020 and was hosted by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI).

This image presents a proposed design with improvements to a driveway between 46th and 47th Avenues and Peoria Street. It would include reduced distances for pedestrians to cross, stop and yield signs for drivers, a raised marked crosswalk for the shared path, and reduced curb space to encourage safer turning by vehicles.

Didn't attend the second public meeting? (DOTI) wants your feedback!

Starting February 5th, visit this link and take the survey: https://bit.ly/2NUOVjE. The survey will be active until April 5, 2020.

Updates on 56th Avenue
  • Construction at the 56th Ave. and Peña Blvd. intersection is expected to begin in spring 2020.
  • And the widening of 56th Ave. will begin its design phase in 2020 and construction will start early in 2022.

2020 Census is Hiring!

The U.S. Census Bureau is ramping up its national recruiting efforts to hire up to 500,000 temporary, part-time census takers for the 2020 Census in communities across the country.

What is the 2020 Census?
The 2020 Census is a count of every person living in the U.S. & the 5 U.S. territories, which will help inform how billions of dollars are distributed to states & communities every year for the next 10 years.

When does the 2020 Census begin?
You will receive an invitation by regular mail to fill out the 2020 Census online or by phone.

Why is the 2020 Census important?
The 2020 Census will inform decisions about funding for roads, transportation, education, it will determine how many congressional representatives each state gets, determines emergency services in our community for the next 10 years and beyond, and in health care, it will inform decisions about funding for critical insurance programs.

  • It is one of the most effective and least costly ways to prevent crime.
  • It helps form a partnership between the community and Denver Police department.

  • No armed patrols.
  • Do not put yourself in harm’s way or confront a suspect (be a good witness).

What is suspicious activity?
