Happy New Year everyone! Hope you had a great Christmas and welcome back.
 
WINTER SCHOOL: 17-19 January. Our all-star concert takes place on the Friday at 7.30pm in the Couper Institute. Admission £8 (£3 concession). All junior performers pay. On Saturday and Sunday, we have workshops from 11-1pm and 2-4pm in Woodfarm. Suitable for all levels except beginner. Cost £5 per session. Family maximum £50. We are taking names from tonight. On Saturday evening, we have a session for anyone of secondary age upwards, starting at 8pm. This will be in the Redhurst Hotel again.

CELTIC CONNECTIONS IN THE COMMUNITY: As part of this initiative, Graham McKenzie, one of Scotland’s finest young musicians will collaborate with our 14-18 group and perform a musical set at our concert in the Couper. https://www.celticconnections.com/event/1/bemis-presents-les-amazones-dafrique-special-guests-with-celtic-connections-in-the-community
 
CHERISH THE LADIES: Tuesday, 28th January, in the Concert Hall. As this is our tutors’ night out, St. Roch’s will be cancelled. Cherish are also doing the schools’ concert on the morning of the 28th, and will be accompanied by our 14-18year old group.
 
BAND AUDITIONS: Saturday, 1st Feb in Woodfarm. U12A,B,C 1pm, U15A,B 3pm. U18 auditions on Tuesday, 4th Feb.
TUNES:  U18 – the tunes Frank has taught (2 reels, 1 jig, 2 hornpipes)
U15A: Foxhunter’s Reel (G) + Legacy Jig (Bk7). U15B: Donegal(3) + Paddy Clancy’s(2)
U15C: John Stenson’s (2) + Jimmy Ward’s (1(b)).
U12A: Maid Behind the Bar*(2) + Out on the Ocean(2). U12B:Jimmy Ward’s +Little Diamond
U12C: My Darling Asleep + Ballyhoura Mountains(1(b))
U12D: Mountains of Pomeroy (1(b))+Kerry Polka(1). U12E:Dawning of the Day+Terry Teahan’s(1).*also U12A grupa cheoil audition tune.
 
U15C do not require an audition. U12D is for those playing more than a year. U12E is for beginners. If your child is auditioning for an A band, make sure they also know B and C band tunes.
 
GLASGOW FEIS: Sunday, 23rd February, in Woodfarm. Solo competitions in all instruments  (2 tunes of a different type, e.g. polka, march). Beginners fiddle and whistle for those who have never competed (1 tune). Duets, trios, and bands (2 tunes). We would like to see more people trying the duet and trio competitions. It’s all good fun. Entries will be collected at St. Roch’s.
 
IMPORTANT DATES: Scottish Fleadh Sun 26th April (Woodfarm).
All-Britain Fleadh 27/28th June (London).
All-Ireland Fleadh 7-9th August (one week earlier than usual).
