Join the Oʻahu RC&D Team - We Are Hiring!


 

Oʻahu RC&D is seeking a  highly-motivated individual who is passionate about local agriculture and land stewardship to join our team as a Farmer and Community Engagement Coordinator. The primary role will be to provide education, outreach and engagement with farmers, community stakeholders and the public on agricultural stewardship and natural resource management issues. 

The deadline for the first screening of applications is 5 PM, Tuesday, January 14th, 2020. Details on how to apply are available on our website.

About the Keynote: Lisa Kivirist 
The Keynote Speaker of the evening is Author and Producer Lisa Kivirist. A national advocate for women in sustainable agriculture, Lisa Kivirist serves as a Senior Fellow, Endowed Chair in Agricultural Systems for the Minnesota Institute for Sustainable Agriculture at the University of Minnesota and served as a distinguished IATP Food and Community Fellow. She authored Soil Sisters: A Toolkit for Women Farmers, compiling advice and resources from over 100 women in sustainable agriculture. Kivirist was recognized by In Business Magazine as a "Woman of Industry" for her leadership growing the women in sustainable agriculture movement.

Woman Farmer Feature: Jamie Ronzello

Through the Hawaiʻi Women Farmers Network developed by Oʻahu Resource Conservation & Development Council, we were able to connect with many of our local producers, from ranchers to bee farmers through the State of Hawaiʻi. It was on Molokaʻi that we got to meet Jamie Ronzello, a dedicated second-generation farmer. Hear her story and how she continues to perpetuate her agribusiness to support herself, her ʻohana, and her community.

Compost is priced at $10 for a 5-gallon bucketful (approximately one cubic foot). Please bring your own container(s) if you have them – we have buckets on hand if you don’t.
