Members General Meeting

This is no general meeting for January 8th.
Our next meeting with be Wednesday, January 15th, 2020.

It is Important for Members to attend as you influence the direction of our Legion.

Mayors Honour List: Laurie Chafe

Congratulations Laurie for being recognized on the 2019 Mayor's Honours List.

"Laurie Chafe, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62 who has served as its President, brought the annual Candlelight Remembrance Service to Sarnia, initiated a Veteran Banner program in downtown Sarnia and was involved in its successful “Catch the Ace” fundraiser."

Legion Membership

Early Bird has Officially Ended.  

Thank you to the hundreds of members who have renewed their membership over the early bird drive.  Your membership is the heartbeat of our Legion.  We truly appreciate your dedication to our Legion.  If you have not renewed your membership yet, not to worry, just attend the Legion and visit the fantastic bar-staff located in the club-room.

Why Become a Member?

You don't have to be a Veteran to join the Sarnia Legion. 

When you join The Royal Canadian Legion, you support the many services we offer to Veterans, serving military, RCMP members, and their families. You will have access to exclusive benefits too!

Any Canadian citizen or citizen of an Allied nation who is 18 years of age or older is welcome to become a member of the Legion. There are four main categories of membership:

Ordinary membership

Includes still serving and retired military, reservists, RCMP, police officers, Canadian Coast Guard, and others listed in the General By-Laws.

Associate membership

Includes parents, spouses, widows, widowers, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces as well as nephews of a person who is or was eligible for Ordinary membership.

Affiliate voting membership

Includes Canadian citizens or Commonwealth subjects from an Allied nation who support The Royal Canadian Legion’s aims and objectives and are not eligible for ordinary or associate membership.

Affiliate non-voting membership

Includes non-Canadian citizens or non-Commonwealth subjects from an Allied nation who support The Royal Canadian Legion’s aims and objectives.


Becoming a Member

You can become a member of the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 in a number of ways.  

1: Fill out this form.  You will be contacted by the membership chair shortly.

2: Download this form and print.  Fill it out and bring to The Sarnia Legion Branch 62.

3: Attend the Legion and tell the bartender "I want to be a member."

You can pay for your membership with a cheque payable to "Sarnia Legion Branch 62" or with Cash.  Speak to the bartender on duty and they will complete the purchase.  

2019: Membership Update

2019 was a fantastic year for the Sarnia Legion.

Membership is on an upswing!
Members are the life blood of any Legion.
Anyone can become a member of the Legion. If you believe the following mission statement:

Our mission is to serve Veterans, including serving military and RCMP members and their families, to promote Remembrance, and to serve our communities and our country.

If you believe this, then you should consider becoming a member at our legion!

Your membership dues and our local fundraising efforts support veterans all across our great nation.

Thank you members for your continued support.

Special Needs Christmas Party

Special Needs Christmas Party at the Legion on December 11th. Pictured below with students from Alexander McKenzie. Over 100 kids from elementary and high school here today.

Santa Claus dropped in for a special visit.

Look who just got off the naughty list. Branch 62 1st Vice President Les Jones presents Sarnia Kinsmen President Bob Marks and Santa Claus with a $500 cheque for the Kinsmen Christmas Parade

The Ladies Auxiliary: Donation!

The Ladies Auxiliary Unit are the backbone of our Legion. They work tirelessly and raise funds to enable us to serve this community proud.

They presented our Legion with $25000.

Friendship Award

Branch President Lynn Mathieson presents Paul VanEkeren with a Friendship Award.

Over the last year Paul has been on a personal mission to raise money for our "Leave the Streets Behind" campaign to assist homeless and near homeless Veterans.

Through his efforts he has raised over $10000.

Jam At The Legion

Jam at The Legion started on Dec 21st and every third Saturday from 1-4 p.m. 

Next Jam: January, Saturday the 18th.

Sarnia Legion: Open to the Public!!!

Did you know that the Sarnia Legion is open to the public during the week and on Saturdays?

Keywords: Open to the Public!

The Sarnia Legion has a bar in the downstairs that is open to the public. Free snooker, free darts and the pool table is $2 a game.

Nevada Gold break open tickets are available for purchase!

Ice cold and reasonably priced beer, wine and well drinks. Some might say they are the best prices in town.

The bartenders wanted me to remind you they are the best bartenders in the world. 

Trivia and Catch The Ace - Thursday Nights 

When: Every Thursday 
Time: Trivia starts at 5:30PM, Catch the Ace Draw is at 7:30PM
Who: Open to the Public.  Everyone is welcome!
Where:
Sarnia Legion Branch 62 (Lower Hall)

Tickets for Catch the Ace start at 5PM every Thursday.  $2 a ticket.  Draw takes place at 7:30PM and you must be present in order to win.  

Trivia starts at 5:30PM.  For the price of a toonie, you are eligible to play 3 great trivia games.  Cash prize every round for the person who correctly answers the most questions.

Pizza is available to purchase for $1.50 a slice!

Tuesday, February 4th - Veterans Affairs Canada

A representative from Veterans Affairs Canada is at Branch 62 on the first Tuesday of each month at 11:30 a.m.  If you need to speak with Veterans Affiairs, please attend the Branch and ask the day of. 
 

Ladies Fun Darts

Ladies fun darts, every Tuesday 1-4, has resumed September 17 and still going strong!
