Announcing our first Food Center Community Dinner!

In partnership with Cargill, Comfort Food Community will be hosting our first Community Dinner on Friday, January 24th at the Food Center from 5:30-7PM!

With the help of Battenkill Community Services, we will be cooking up a delicious meal for all to enjoy. The menu consists of oven-baked ham, crispy potatoes, fresh salad and rolls. The perfect "comfort food" to nourish and warm our bellies on a chilly evening.

All are welcome to join and 'pay what you can' for your meal. Donations received will support future events and programming at Comfort Food Community.

A huge thank you to Cargill for sponsoring this event! They will be providing all food and utensils, as well as assisting with event operations. In addition, Cargill has generously offered to match the total amount of donations collected during dinner.
We're looking forward to collaborating on what is sure to be a great event!
Edible Education presents: Cheese Making Made Easy

Comfort Food Community is partnering with the Greenwich Free Library to offer our first adult cooking class at the Food Center! Our Food Center Manager, Jeff Bowers, will be teaching us how to make mozzarella and ricotta cheese- from scratch!

We're excited to share that this class is already full, but we will be announcing our next class soon!

If you or someone you know is interested in teaching a class we would love to know! Maybe you have a knack for baking or secret kitchen talent that you'd like to share. Please don't hesitate to reach out with ideas to Haley at haley@comfortfoodcommunity.org.  See you in the kitchen!
Greenwich Tour of Homes was a Glowing Success!

This year's 'Tour of Homes' was a wonderful day, bringing together members of the local community as well as those from around the region. Nearly 200 event-goers strolled from home to home, filling the streets of downtown Greenwich with energy and community spirit.

As can be said for most great events, there was much work that went into the planning of the day. Coordinating tour locations and entertainment, managing ticket sales and, most importantly, ensuring that all tour go-ers enjoyed their day. It was inspiring to see different individuals and organizations in our community come together to produce a festive day for all to enjoy.

A special thank you goes to Jeannie Pemrick and Michele Spigner for their countless hours of hard work. Year after year, their vision and dedication has been detrimental to the success and growth of this event. Thank yous are also in order for the Tour of Homes Committee who began planning the tour in the early fall in collaboration with the individuals who graciously opened their homes to the community. Without homes there would be no tour!

Also, we send appreciation to The United Church and local musician, Bob Warren, for sharing a special performance Sunday afternoon.
This year the tour raised a total of $3,072 which is donated in full to Comfort Food Community. This event was not only a fun and festive way to enjoy the holidays, but a true reflection of the involvement and care that the individuals in Greenwich have for their community.
Mark your calendar for next year’s tour which will take place on Sunday, December 6th, 2020!  If you are interested in opening your home to next year’s tour please contact Haley at haley@comfortfoodcommunity.org.
