The first webinar in the Canadian Section of The Wildlife Society's (CSTWS) 2020 Education Series will take place 12:00-1:00 pm central time on Thursday, January 9

Dr. William (Bill) Halliday will present a webinar titled Listening to the Arctic: Tracking how marine animals respond to underwater noise and climate change.

Bio: Dr. William (Bill) Halliday is an associate conservation scientist with Wildlife Conservation Society Canada, and is also a visiting scientist in the Department of Biology at the University of Victoria. He studies Arctic marine mammals and fish using passive acoustic monitoring, and examines how climate change and underwater noise from ship traffic affect these species. His main study area is in the Inuvialuit Settlement Region of the western Canadian Arctic. He also uses ship tracks and acoustic propagation modeling to examine underwater noise from ships throughout the Canadian Arctic. For more details about his research and past experience, check out his website (wdhalliday.weebly.com)

Webinars are presented through WebEx and participation is limited to CSTWS members.

If you are a CSTWS member and are interested in participating, please respond to this e-mail (webinars.cstws@gmail.com) by Wednesday, January 8 to register. You will be provided with further instructions 1 day before the webinar (i.e. we won't send a confirmation e-mail after you register).
