Our second youthful announcement of the day is that the IQA will be adding three Youth competitions to the Quiz Olympiad. Players aged 30 or under on 1 September 2020 will qualify.
1. Individual Competition - everyone will play the same 100-question qualifying quiz, but there will now be two finals for the highest scoring ten players in the youth and senior competitions. If a player aged 30 or under qualifies for both, they can play in both finals, or opt to just play in one. If they only play in one, the eleventh placed player in that category will be invited to play in the final instead.
2. Pairs Competition - both players in the pair must be aged 30 or under (on 1 Sept 2020) to qualify. All players face the same 100 questions and the top scoring three players in each age category will be awarded medals. If a pair qualifies for a medal in each age category, they will be awarded both medals.
3. Nations Cup - this competition will work in the same way as the existing Nations and Aspirational Cups. Teams will all need to be 30 or under (on 1 Sept 2020) to qualify. Teams will have to declare which category they are playing in when asked to by the organisers. All teams will play the same 100-question qualifying competitions and there will be a new final added to the schedule for the youth category.
Schedules and details will all be updated on the Quiz Olympiad website over the next few days.
